Why isn’t Trump an accessory-after-the-fact to Russia’s criminal election interference, which he tried to cover up in order to lift sanctions on Russia? 1/
/ Trump sure was acting like an accessory-after-the-fact when #RealityWinner intervened. Thread.
/ I’m raising this question in the context of impeachable offenses. I know Mueller concluded the DOJ can’t indict a sitting president.
/ I’m raising the question bc I’m tired of hearing there was no underlying crime (collusion). Accessory after the fact puts the underlying crime of Russian interference front & center in a way that the obstruction of justice theory does not.
/ The obstruction of justice theory—if focused exclusively on the “collusion” investigation (as it seems to be)—can’t help but draw attention to Mueller’s no-evidence-of-collusion finding. Accessory-after-the-fact doesn’t do that.
