We invented Labor Day to draw attention away from the socialist May Day.
America wanted to celebrate workers, but like, not in a way that was inconvenient to capitalism.
We got a day that celebrates workers by giving money to the rich. Cause that's how we do in America.
Can't have the proletariat unifying or anything
So instead we have a day after which you have to purchase different fashion
The essence of Mayday is resistance to any system employed by those in power to pit working classes against each other in order to maintain their own dominance.
This is why racism exists.
This is why in Philly, we are using Mayday to advocate for the dignity and humanity of immigrants.
It's railing against exploitation
It's speaking truth to power.
