Finally watched the Assassin's Creed movie.

My God that was awful.

No tension or drama to the fight scenes at all, done like a fast cut music video. That *never* works.
Violence has costs. You have to show the pain, the struggle, effort.

This movie showed...nothing. The fight scenes were actually BORING.

literally a fast cut edit every second or so during the 'fight' scenes, turning them essentially into hyper-active music videos.
Look, low budge filmmakers manage to do this, make an engaging, exciting fight scene.

How in the world somebody managed to blow a huge budget like this that essentially turned Assassin's Creed into a boring music video floors me.
Albert Pyun in 1989 on a SHOESTRING BUDGET made a film with a bunch of great fight scenes in it staring Jean Claude Van Damme. It was called "Cyborg".

The running away fight in the middle of the film where JCVD and the girl are trying to get away from Fender & his pirates, THIS is how you build suspense.

So few people know how to pull off an action movie today. The music video generation, they need to go back and watch the 1980's when the action film was at it's height.
