Because @TulsiGabbard has received significant financial support from The Hindu Right and so is beholden to their interests, including anti-Muslim & anti-Christian agendas.

Also, Obama isn't running for office. Gabbbard is, and her Hindu nationalist sympathies are unacceptable.
For Americans unfamiliar with Hindu nationalism, I invite you to read this thread that clarifies the nature and origin of this dangerous ideology: #Hindutva #HinduNationalism
For liberals in particular thinking about supporting Gabbard, I encourage you to look hard at her ties to India's extreme right wing. Look into the 2002 pogrom in Gujarat, overseen by Modi and for which he was banned from the United States, for more than a decade.
Nobody is arguing that the United States should not continue relations with India, no matter who leads India. Of course we should. But that is quite different from being beholden to Hindu nationalists with interests arguably in conflict with US national interests and values.
Update on this THREAD to answer a few questions and objections.

Reminder, my basic point is: Tulsi Gabbard has extensive, fairly well-documented links with Hindu nationalism, a political ideology that US voters should learn about before supporting Gabbard's presidential bid.
Objection: Why don't liberals criticize Obama for being soft on Hindu nationalism?

Answer 1: Obama worked with & said some kinda gross stuff supporting Modi, but he did not attend Hindu nationalist events, voice support for the RSS agenda, and take Hindutva money. Gabbard does.
Answer 2 on Obama objection: A lot of us did criticize Obama, extensively, while he was president, on a range of issues. These days, Obama's views are largely a matter of history. We're talking now about Gabbard wanting to be America's president, so her views are at issue.
Objection: Gabbard is being targeted for being Hindu.

Answer: Gabbard wants to run for President, and so opened up her views for public debate. Her politics - not her religion - is at issue. Also, many Hindus are on the frontlines opposing Hindu nationalism. Gabbard knows that.
Objection: Where is proof?

Answer: Gabbard's ties with #Hindutva are well documented. Look into it for yourself. This is really, exactly my point: American voters should do their own research and think about if Gabbard's Hindu nationalist sympathies are OK. I think they are not.
