Now it's officially okay to post #Endgame spoilers, here's my nerdy gripe (short thread):

Thanos does not understand population growth, and by his own logic doomed the universe.
Thanos was a Malthusian: he believes populations will grow to use up all resources and leave people living on the edge of sustenance, in misery.

His solution was to kill off half the population of the universe, at random, so there were more resources per survivor.
Why he couldn't just double the resources is an open question. But by his logic, so far, so good.

But then he destroys the Infinity Stones, meaning he can never do it again. So…what happens when populations return to their old levels? That might only take decades.
Thanos found a "solution" to the Malthusian problem, but one that would need regular repetition. Then made it impossible to repeat it.

Conclusion: Thanos was a bad economist.
(Postscript: it's possible Thanos's idea would work if he'd also lowered average fertility rates, but that comes with a whole set of new issues.)
