Sagas with @crichardson 💪 #microcph

Transactions within, Sagas between microservices.
Microservices enable loosely coupled teams. Data needs to be encapsulated to enable low friction evolution of schema. @crichardson #microcph
Rolling back in ACID is fairly simple compared to rolling back in a Saga. Moves compensating logic into application. @crichardson #microcph
You can’t rollback some events.... like sending a missile. Understand your domain before choosing Sagas. @crichardson #microcph
Sagas lack isolation so there are concurrency challenges. Sagas don’t have locks, so steps can be interleaved resulting in data anomalies like lost updates and dirty reads. @crichardson #microcph
If Sagas are causing pain, perhaps it’s a symptom of a sub-optimal decomposition, so maybe revisit your boundaries. @crichardson #microcph #dddesign
Orchestration or choreography-based coordination? @crichardson #microcph

I don’t know anyone who has opinions about this topic 😁
