The fact over the last two days I've riled so many when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict who all give interesting points, but talk over each other and demonise or dismiss the other side, whilst ignoring solution based approaches shows how warped the debate is. /1
I am committed to working with people who I hope will come to realise the best way to achieve a brighter approach for all Israelis and Palestinians is by humanising them. /2
Humanising Israelis and Palestinians is a practical approach.

It means acknowledging the regular human rights abuses Palestinians face in the Palestinian Territories, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. /3
It also means acknowledging the terrorist attacks from Hamas and Islamic Jihad which terrorises the people of southern Israel and undermines their human rights. /4
It means acknowledging the xenophobia shown towards Israelis and Palestinians as well as the many examples of antisemitism and Islamophobia. /5
It means emphasising with the many Palestinians and Israelis who have lost those close to them in a seemingly never-ending conflict, where both nations have legitimate claims, but where leaders have committed violence and human rights abuses /6
It means recognising Palestinians have a right to mark the Nakba, which to many Palestinians is not about destroying Israel, but commemorating Palestinian refugees./7
Its about respecting Israel's right to celebrate its existence and commemorate the loss of its fallen. /8
Its about not expecting Israelis to mark Nakba Day, but to respect Palestinians right to mark it and be educated about it. /9
Its about not expecting Palestinians to mark the loss of Israel's fallen soldiers, but expecting and encouraging them to respect it and be educated about it. /10
Of course lets continue to give our passionately held beliefs outside of Israel and Palestine.

However, why not temper it with a solution based approach based on less condemning and whitewashing and more empathy, understanding and listening to both Israelis and Palestinians. /11
To be able to do that you need to see the humanity in Israelis and Palestinians, based on not calling their identity a myth or dismissing either side's claim that they are nation of people. /12
If two 16 year olds one an American-Israeli and one a Palestinian can follow this approach based on the tools given to them at @givathaviva International School we outside of the conflict zone should be able to do the same. /13
I feel the fact I have riled people of opposing opinions whose opinions by the way I respect shows I am heading along the right path.
