#Alabama, #Ohio, #Missouri, and #Georgia have begun the @GOP's orchestrated attack on women with restrictive abortion laws.

Make NO mistake this is NOT about protecting life. It is a hostile GOP and their #WarOnWomen restricting #WomensReproductiveRights and #WomensHealth.
Highly restrictive abortion laws are not associated with lower abortion rates! Whether legal or prohibited the number of abortions taking place remains relatively unchanged. Highly restrictive abortion laws simply prevent SAFE abortions.
In countries where abortion is completely banned or permitted only to save the woman’s life or preserve her physical health, only 1 in 4 abortions were safe; whereas, in countries where abortion is legal on broader grounds, nearly 9 in 10 abortions were done safely.
According to @Guttmacher, the abortion rate is 37 per 1,000 women in countries that prohibit abortion altogether or allow it only to save a woman’s life, and 34 per 1,000 in countries that allow abortion without restriction as to the reason.

Worldwide, 25 million unsafe abortions (45% of all abortions) occurred every year between 2010 and 2014, according to a new study by WHO and the Guttmacher Institute published today in The Lancet.
In 2017, Doctors Without Borders staff treated over 22,000 patients with post-abortion complications. In some hospitals where DWB teams work, up to 30 percent of obstetric complications may be due to unsafe abortion.

For women who use these unsafe methods and survive, the life-threatening consequences they may face include severe hemorrhage, sepsis, poisoning, uterine perforation, or damage to other internal organs.
While the GOP in individual states attack women with highly restrictive abortion laws the Trump administration is attempting to provide potent new tools for already powerful health care, educational and social services institutions to impose their values and agenda on society.
On May 2, the Trump administration posted the final version of its long-expected “refusal of care” rule. This dangerous new policy has strong potential to undermine sexual and reproductive health policy and patients’ rights and care in the United States and possibly abroad.
The refusal of care rule also lines up with other actions by the Trump administration, such as its recent attacks on Title X and ongoing attempts to undermine the #ACA's contraceptive coverage guarantee.
Under this hostile administration, abortion and other specific sexual and reproductive health services could be excluded from coverage in the public option nationwide.
In response, women (and men) are preparing to take to the streets AGAIN in protest of the #AlabamaAbortionBan, seeking #EqualityForAll #WomensRights, to #ProtectOurCare, and #SaveOurDemocracy from the GOP's #WarOnWomen we also need to show up at the ballot box, EVERY ELECTION!
In every presidential election since 1980, the proportion of eligible female adults who voted has EXCEEDED the proportion of eligible male adults who voted... THE VOTE BELONGS TO THE WOMEN AND THE MEN THAT SUPPORT THEM! #WeWillNotGoBack
#HandMarkedPaperBallots will secure our elections. Demand the Senate pass Wyden’s #PaceAct & implement it in all 50 states. Check your voter registration, update your information, get informed, help inform others, and #VoteBlue2020 Your Rights Depend on it!!
