'You don't fight fascism because you are going to win, you fight fascism because it is fascist.'
Jean Paul Sartre
... and if you weren’t already doing so, then now is a good time to join the fight.
some gold medalists in Entire Political Science from Watsapp University apparently don't know who Sartre is or what fascism is. Here's a simple, but effective explanation from Michael Rosen, written in verse...
Fascism: I sometimes fear... (Michael Rosen)
I sometimes fear that
people think that fascism arrives in fancy dress
worn by grotesques and monsters
as played out in endless re-runs of the Nazis.
Fascism arrives as your friend.
It will restore your honour,
make you feel proud,
protect your house,
give you a job,
clean up the neighbourhood,
remind you of how great you once were,
clear out the venal and the corrupt,
remove anything you feel is unlike you...
It doesn't walk in saying,
"Our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."
[I didn't name a fascist party, a mass-murdering leader, or even a country in the above tweets, but a group of BJP supporters from India clearly felt targeted, and responded defensively ... by defending fascism and even Nazism and saying they weren't so bad after all].
