I’m visually impaired & use a white cane. Tonight outside a train station a man approached me.
Him: do you need any help?
Me: no thank you.
Him: let me help you.
Me: I’m fine.
Him: you’re so beautiful I want to give you my phone number.
Me: no.
Him: let me help you!
Me: no.
I started walking away & he followed me shouting.
Him: I want to give you my number, let me just say how beautiful you are!
Me: no, I’m fine. I don’t need your help.

I tried to leave as quickly as possible before he grabbed me. I heard him follow me into the station 2/3
I walked straight up to where I knew I could find a Transport for London staff member.

Luckily it was a woman. I told her what happened & asked her to escort me to the platform.

She was amazing, she believed me, asked if he tried to grab me & got me on a train safely. 3/3
The most upsetting thing is that I instantly blamed myself for stopping outside of the station for a minute to put a playlist on my phone.

I felt like it was fault for stopping & being too visible.
But you know what is even more depressing? The fact that this isn’t the first time it’s happened & that the TFL staff (regardless of gender) have instantly recognised the issue & believed me, like they have witnessed it & know it’s an issue, that creepers pretend to help.
