Ok I will tell my one and only halfway decent joke I can remember. A new prison inmate goes to sleep in his cell the first night and as he nods off, he hears an inmate yell "57!!!!!" and then raucous laughter among the inmates... after a minute or two...
...he hears another inmate yell: "423!!!" followed by raucous laughter. This continues for some time until the inmate asks his cell mate what's going on. Cell mate tells him: "We've heard all the jokes so many times...
...we just assign them numbers so we don't have to repeat the whole joke." New inmate says "I'd like to do that, too." So the next week he spends every day learning each joke and the corresponding number. Finally, he's ready. He's lying in bed at night and...
...he shouts out: "Number 34!"
He tries again.
"Number 204!"
Only silence.
He gives one last try:
"Number 64!"
No response.
He turns to his cell mate and says, "What's the matter?"
Cell mate says...
... "Some people just don't know how to tell a joke."
