@rocketmanmovie @RegalMovies @rocketmanmovie was so good! It made me😭 just as hard as #BohemianRhapsody did. #RocketmanMovie
I was so happy my top fave songs made it into the movie. Sad Songs, I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues,Benny&the Jets, Don't Go Breakin My Heart,Your Song&I'm Still Standing..among other hits.
#RocketmanMovie
It was a great mix of Broadway Musical seamlessly woven together w/a biopic that showed how talented the cast was. From the main to the extras. The dancing, singing, instrument playing&acting was fantastic.
#RocketmanMovie
It's Rated R. Lots of adult dialogue, language, drug use alcholism, sex scenes that were tastefully done. Elton John's life wasn't sugar-coated and neither was this movie. #RocketmanMovie
I really didn't know of the actor, @TaronEgerton , until this movie but omg! He totally embodied Reginald Dwight/ @eltonofficial The singing, dancing, acting, and piano playing. The good, bad, innocent, jerk, pain, the worst, the better, the redemption. Bravo to him! 👏👏👏👏
Speaking of Bravo to portraying Reginald Dwight /Elton John. The two young actors who liked younger Reginald/Reggie were fantastic also. I looked their names up. #MatthewIllesley played younger Reginald. #RocketmanMovie
And #KitConnor played teen Reginald/Reggie. Both young actors could sing, dance, and act phenomenally. #RocketmanMovie
Forgot to mention #spoliers..
I also loved the actor who played #BernieTaupin . #JamieBell .The chemistry he and Taron had, you'd think they had a friendship and brotherhood just as tight as the real Bernie and real Elton. #RocketmanMovie
I loved how when Elton met Ray and he quickly searched through envelopes of songwriters handing Elton an envelope that connected him with Bernie, forging one of the best relationships ever. Oh,I love how Elton John came up w/his name. #RocketmanMovie
Then there's Elton's relationship w/John Reid. #JohnReid #BohemianRhapsody /Queen former manager..Yes,that John Reid. In this movie played by actor #RichardMadden&his Scottish accent is thicker than #AidanGillen who played John in BoRhap(at least it was to me). #RocketmanMovie
Now when I learned of what(via BoRhap)Paul Prenter did to John in setting him up to be fired by Freddie so he could take over managing Queen&Freddie(don't worry he only did the latter, the band wasn't having that),I felt so bad for him. It really had me tripping. #RocketmanMovie
Until watching #Rocketman and seeing how Elton was more into John Reid than John was into him. Especially once Elton left his former manager, letting John Reid become it. Especially during this big scene... #RocketmanMovie
And this scene...especially what John told Elton as he was placed on the stretcher and being whisked away to the hospital to get his stomach pumped. #RockcetmanMovie
I thought of John Reid differently for the remainder of the movie. I looked at him on screen with serious side-eye, judging him...thinking I didn't feel for him anymore. And maybe he got what he deserved with Paul after all. #RocketmanMovie
John Reid was bad but he wasn't the first. Elton's mom&dad had me🤬under my breath. They were💩parents. His mother was all about her and cold. His step-dad was passive-agressive. Elton took care of them. She told him he'd never truly be loved because he was gay. #RocketmanMovie
His dad never showed him love and affection, treating him like a stranger. He didn't like him touching his records(Young Reginald tried to bond w/his dad over them). After leaving him&his mother, years later he had a new wife.. #RocketmanMovie
..&two more sons(who let an now older Elton he was their half-brother).But all he wanted was him to sign his copy of Elton's album..not to him but to a guy he knows..Basically still treating him like he did when he was a child. Like a stranger. #RocketmanMovie
He hoped that his father would realize they have this second chance but he was oblivious to what Elton was hoping for. When they all walked him out to the car,he watched the younger half-brother look up to their dad&their dad before being picked up&carried inside.
#RocketmanMovie
His dad got a second chance alright. One to start over with a new family and not look back. Thank goodness he had his grandmother(for as long as he did). #RocketmanMovie
All the stress and loss and rejection and people wanting and wanting and taking and expecting of him-he substituted alcohol, drugs, food, shopping for the pain and loneliness. He faked the feeling before performing for millions of fans. #RocketmanMovie
I wanted to mention some sweet scenes I liked that I forgot to mention. When his band first got the gig to be the band for American soul,doo-wop,r&b groups that were touring Europe. I loved when he received a surprising kiss from a guy of one of the groups. #RocketmanMovie
Elton bonding with the musicians of the groups. Even introducing Bernie to them(once they met and bonded)&one of the musicians(the one who kissed him) outting him. Elton worried that he be judged by those at the table&Bernie but learning they were fine with him. #RocketmanMovie
