EViD systems, the voting equipment that Russians hacked, was developed by Nick Providakis, who was at the same time a Republican activist. #VRSystems @jennycohn1
Previously, Providakis ran a nuclear fusion company, along with David Rayburn and Tim Draper, that was funded by Draper/Russia from 1995-2000. He went straight from that to election software... an odd jump.
Tim Draper, famous for his Russia-friendly "3 Californias" initiative, received his funding from the Russian VTB Group, which is now sanctioned. He regularly travels to Russia. @ZarinaZabrinsky
In 2008, Providakis organized a protest for the "Republican Liberty Caucus," a libertarian organization that Ron Paul used to lead, against Rep. Allen Boyd.
He also appears to have volunteered for another Ron Paul group. He was involved as an activist while he was working for VR Systems, as he attended a protest in 2011 at the Florida Capitol. @RonWyden
Providakis just seems like an odd hire for an election company. His resume is a bit thin. Also, I'd be concerned that he still could be receiving Russian funds via Tim Draper, since he follows and "likes" Draper's calls for applications. @KimZetter
VR Systems has been sending confusing messages about what happened with their EViD system on election day, but something definitely went wrong...
