PM Modi has redefined Indian Politics. He is 'Americanizing' our politics and we are embracing it. A much needed change. From his election campaign to his cabinet composition, from his style of governance to his public outreach and what not. Let me explain how, in this thread :
Prime Minister Modi's election campaign was unlike anything we had seen in India ever before. It revolved around one entity and that entity wasn't BJP, it was Narendra Damodardas Modi himself.

The voter was forced to zoom in and view the election as if there was no better choice than PM Modi. This is what Noam Chomsky has debated for years. It became a trend ever since President Nixon went full throttle on it. PM Modi did the same in India and results are similar.
While every other politician was busy positioning himself/herself to suit the voters, PM Modi cleverly tuned the voters to confirm to his narrative. People always tend to lean towards the one, who they believe is a safe bet and PM Modi was theirs to lose.
Even the Cabinet of this Govt looks American-esque. Never before in the history of independent India has any Prime Minister recruited former bureaucrats and apolitical domain experts in his team on such a large scale. The top-tier of Modi Cabinet is similar to the White House.
Take MEA Dr Subrahmaniam Jaishankar, NSA Ajit Doval (now promoted as Cabinet Minister with a 5-year extension), Mr Hardeep Puri, General Retd. VK Singh just to name a few.
They were not politicians but PM Modi selected them just because of their merit and the vast amount of experience and domain expertise they bring to the table. Unusual for the Indian Subcontinent where red-tapism and 'netagiri' dictated every thing until now.
Politicians in India are known to keep their hand permanently in the cookie jar by grabbing hold of every public organization they can. This stranglehold has been demolished by PM Modi by appointing high-level committees like the NITI Aayog, CAS and CES.
Then comes his public outreach program. Convincing Indian voters to take bitter medicine is the hardest thing for ANY politician but PM Modi cruised over this speed breaker with ease. In USA, elections are all about selling oneself to the voters. Sellability is key.
No one ever did it in India. Parties tried to sell the flaws of the opposition and the achievements of the Govt to the electorate but no one EVER even tried to ask for votes from the electorate in the name of a candidate. It was unthinkable till PM Modi did.
BJP brilliantly made MODI, the biggest brand of our nation. He naturally resonated with the people and the electorate connected with him, without much hype. This is next-generation of politics and so far only Modi has evolved. This is why he is always 10 steps ahead of others. 😎
