Thread regarding #Sanders2020

1. Folks think Bernie was selfish for running in '16. I'm NOT one of them. I think he knew the American people weren't going to vote for HRC, & understood clearly the threat that Trump was to this country & the world; & wanted to inspire us.
2. For 4 decades Bernie's message has been consistent. He has ALWAYS been #ForThePeople. He has NEVER sold out. Is he perfect? No, there is no perfect human being, but he's definitely the best we have in the field without question.
3. I think Bernie looked at his options & did an unselfish thing. I think it's why the 2016 campaign struggled. This time around I am prouder than ever to support his campaign & actually volunteering. I don't know how safe our elections are, if they'll cheat, but I have to try.
4. I know 2016 was a devastating loss, but if you're wallowing in that, feeling broken, beat down, without hope you have to listen to him speak on what Democratic Socialism means to him. Now is NOT the time to give up or allow defeat to overtake you:

5. When they tell you he stayed in the race too long back then, they are lying. He waited for CA, which was the right time to drop out. Then he immediately began stumping for HRC to stop Trump. He did a total of 53 rallies for her. He kept his word, even tho he was cheated.
6. If you're upset with him for stumping for HRC you don't understand him. He did a fine job of proving he is a "real" democrat in that speech. Realer than any other Dem alive today. He's closer to FDR than all of them combined. He wants what is best, not what is perfect.
7. This makes him an ideal candidate, too. While you & I don't want to #VoteBlueNoMatterWho, he sees merit in slowing down the destruction as we work toward something better, rather than allowing the GOP to free fall us into chaos and constitutional crisis. He is level-headed.
8. I don't know how anyone can watch his speech on what Democratic Socialism means to him, & not come away supporting him fully. There is no Bernie 2.0 in Yang, the way some promote. He's one of a kind & everyone has jumped on his wagon.
9. I love a person who is authentic. Who doesn't wait for what is popular to flip his stance, but is ahead of his time by decades. Someone who stands for what is right, well before it's popular, & isn't afraid to say it. That's Bernie all day, every day, for decades.
10. I love that he tells us the truth. We always want our president to be our savior, but he knows that isn't possible. That not even the most well-intentioned president can change our system alone. The only thing that has ever brought systemic change is us.
11. This is why when centrists tell me I have to unite I roll my eyes. I'm not uniting around the status quo. I will unite with millions from my country & stand in solidarity with the working poor in other countries, to demand a fairer, most just, equitable world for us all.
12. Bernie is the ONLY candidate who talks about that. How we should make sure our trade policies help workers around the world; not just in the USA. I'm not a nationalist. I'm not an America first type. I want justice and peace for everyone; no matter where they're born.
13. When asked how he plans to implement his changes, he says he will go to every district where their senator is opposing something the people want, and rally the people to his side. He wants us to understand he can't do this alone; this isn't a selfish thing for him.
14. They want you to think he's self-serving, but anyone who has actually listened to him understands he is anything but. Every time he speaks out against these powerful interests so powerfully he puts his life at risk. You may think that's exaggeration, but history doesn't lie.
15. Self-serving is understanding these interests control it all, & caving to take their $ & do their bidding. Of course the ones who do that will project. They don't want to lose power or relevance. Little do they know, if they did what he does they'd be more relevant than ever.
16. The democrats made Bernie head of outreach for a reason. They KNOW he is the most popular candidate. Only many of us aren't going to tow some line, which is fine. If they want our votes they should have to earn them. Demanding them isn't democratic to say the least.
17. In my pinned tweet you will find a long list of progressives who are running for congress. It's my hope that you will go through it, inform yourself, donate, amplify those campaigns, volunteer if possible. The more progressive congress is the better chance we have.
18. Understand this, the days of you voting & then laying low are long-gone. We ALL have to continue to stand up for our rights. To push our politicians and be involved in the process. When Bernie needs us we rally; PERIOD. He is putting everything on the line for us.
19. I would highly suggest you follow @ShahidForChange & donate to him at shahidforchange.us. He is challenging Pelosi, & we need her gone. She has gone behind on our back on EVERY progressive issue & failed us. It's time for a real progressive to be in her place.
20. I know it's hard. I know it's frustrating. I understand your outcries, your rage, your fear, but as Bernie says, "I may not be a mathematician, but last I knew 99% was far greater than 1%." We the people, together, can do this. We can take back our country & help others, too.
21. Bernie isn't a savior. He can't do this alone. So, if you haven't already sign up for the app at app.berniesanders.com. If you need info on how to use the app let me know. Sign up to volunteer. Then check the maps for events near you at map.berniesanders.com. We need YOU.
22. Trump is above the law. There is no one holding him accountable. He has filled the courts with right-wing judges, & Ruth Bader Ginsburg has warned us regarding SCOTUS as well:

23. Not near enough people understand how far gone we are, or how long ago it started. Obama, in many ways, set the precedent for Trump. If you're still in love with Obama I suggest some reading & research. It's time to stand up. Don't claim to be woke & do nothing.
24. YOU can change a mind. YOU can talk to people. YOU can spread the message of #NotMeUs, #WithTheseHands, #Tangibles, #Receipts, #MedicareForAll, #EconomicJustice, and #DemocraticSocialism. YOU can inspire folks to VOTE & to vote for #Bernie2020!
25. If you ever lose hope reach out. To me or another supporter. We all go there sometimes. We're human & emotions ebb & flow. Like Bernie says, if you care about me & my family I will care about yours. That sort of movement cannot be stopped. We have the power!
