Here's the thing.

Growing up, I never used the word "nigger." I never heard it either.

Get it? I NEVER HEARD IT.

Whereas every kid with TV and tuff Internet growing up in *this^ century has heard it. Over and over. >
And in a time of "resist" and "question authority" and "kids should vote" and "love has no age," how on earth should any kid be able to comprehend this:

There's a word that SOME people can say (and be celebrated for it) whereas OTHERS who say it will be damned for all eternity?
"Tuff"?
Funny... and timely... but @BillCosby was right
During the litigation over THE SLANTS I had to keep explaining that, "reappropriation" notwithstanding, our argument could never be that it was ok for @SimonTheTam to register the mark because "he is one."

Either everyone can register a trademark or no one can.
And I also wrote at the time that the issue at the USPTO wasn't about THE SLANTS or HEEB - but rather the one trademark no one dared utter.
