I’ve had an incredible week, working with incredibly talented people around #Oxford, stimulating new ideas for #research, practice and #engagement. This thanks to a #KnowledgeExchange Fellowship funded by @TORCH @UniofOxford. This week… (thread)
I met Bevan:does brilliant work engaging hard to reach teens in special school in the county. Told me his mum (also works there) is a unrecognised legend. We must value people at the coalface of work with young people, even when not qualified social workers/teachers @PopulateCoop
Spoke @LancasterUni about importance of stability for #education of YP in #care @ReesCentre. Really interesting presentations by @MElliott57, @MattJayResearch & @stefdoebler please look up their important work #ECRFriday. Thanks @DrLCusworth and @ChildFamJustice for the invite.
Also met @lyouansamouth, who is doing a fascinating #ethnography of the #police. She told me about #systems theory, #multi-agency working and the need for better supervision for people doing difficult work. So many interesting parallels for social work and the #NHS.
ALSO very excited to meet @OJPreston from @researchIP, talked about fascinating work to increase support #CEP get in prisons. Mostly, two data enthusiasts talked abt serious limitations of quantitative research in social work & of getting research into practice.
Wednesday, met Michelle @virtualheadox re #education of children in #care; barely scratched surface (#data #libraries #schools). Her vision: to raise aspirations & support emotional needs of young people in #care. Her moto might be “it’s just not good enough!” #Legend #NewBFF
Rosie and I continue to masterplan #KnowledgeExchange activities to create better engagement between #research and practice as it concerns education and care experience. 3 strands of exciting work planned. Watch this space! #CSLewis #Wardrobes @MagdalenCollege #DreamTeam
Continued convo by email with @OliPreston, am now studying RiP awesome engagement model. Exchanged emails @ClaireFitzpatrick about shortcomnings in evidence-based policy re care experienced people in prisons. Need to start talking about hard to reach policy-makers (cf tweet#2)
Midweek I brought together an awesome team of #ECRs to exchange ideas, provide support and create an accountability circle @eleanorott @Michelle_Degli @elizabethnye1 @hwc001 @yshenderovich @EleanorCarter #ECRFriday
Very inspiring meeting today talking about how we can bring women leaders together with awesome women leaders and other Oxford superstars @ShaughnessyEmmy @Ethical_Leader @Sara_fernandezz @LucyLucyabutler and others. Watch this space for future activities @OxWomenLeaders
Very brief but stimulating chat about education and #fostering with the insanely talented @Sara_fernandezz who reads more books a week than I do to my children! Looking forward working together…
Topped off this insane #KnowledgeExchange week with a visit to @TheArtRoomUK thanks to @artisjusta_word. What a brilliant project providing a safe space for young people in Oxford to learn about friendship, leadership and all things arty. So #inspiring.
Very excited to be plotting some future work with @artisjusta_word master organiser, artist and all around trailblazer. Looking forward to @Luke_Rodgers visiting too. #Oxford is bursting with talent…
So ends my week in #KnowledgeExchange. I am very grateful to @TORCH for funding this work and recommend the Fellowship to anyone else at @UniofOxford thinking about it ... /end/
Quite frankly @MattJayResearch I was disappointed your presentation wasn't in Latin! #notstalkingyou
Oops sorry wrong Twitter handle there @CJJFitzpatrick
There may or may not be too many awesome women leaders in that tweet!
