[Thread] Interesting angle to the oil tanker sabotage in the Gulf of Oman 2 weeks ago.

One of the tankers the US accuses #Iran of sabotaging is the Norwegian-owned Front Altair. This tanker is owned by the Frontline Ltd company.

The Chairman, President and Director of Frontline Ltd is John Fredriksen.

His claim to fame includes facilitating exports of Iranian oil during periods of intense sanctions, including during the #Iran-Iraq War & Obama-era sanctions:

During the 1980s, he was described as the "Ayatollah's lifeline" by his biographer, moving Iranian crude oil during the Iran-Iraq war.

The Iraqis hit his tankers 3 times:

His tankers also made unreported stops in #Iran during the Obama-era sanctions—loading up on Iranian oil:

This all raises the question of why—at a time when the US is trying to blockade Iranian oil exports—would #Iran hit the tankers of someone who has helped them skirt sanctions?
