DMT in the Quran, an extremely interesting link that may have been hidden in plain sight

[Thread]

#DMT (dimethyltryptamine) is the most power hallucinogenic substance known to man. It’s endogenous (naturally produced in the body), and is suggested to be mass synthesized
1
by the body during death.

According to Timmermann et al., a significant amount of user reports on the experience of DMT include feelings of entering a different realm, encountering mystical beings, and “ego death” (feeling detached from the self and the material world)
2
What does this have to do with the Quran? Well, there’s a peculiar verse in Surah Qaf about dying:

“And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid.” [50:19]

Note the word intoxication. Islamically, this refers to mind-alteration,
3 Image
and the most notable effect of DMT is its extreme mind-alteration

If DMT is truly released in the body at death, it’s another sign of the Quran’s divinity, as this knowledge could not have been accessible in the 7th century

So, could the intoxicant mentioned in the Quran
4
really be DMT, and if so, what’re the implications?

Firstly, the most popular view on DMT is that it does indeed play a biological role in death

To be clear, there is currently no direct clinical observation of DMT being released during death due to the ethically
5
challenging nature of such a study. However, there are many indirect reasonings that suggest it is the case. Here’s a quick rundown of some reasons:

Most notably is the stark similarities between the reports of near death experiences (NDE) and the reports of DMT experiences
6
In this study, the similarities in their experiences were concluded to be statistically significant, suggesting that DMT may be the biological cause of NDEs and released by the body when its in a state of dying
7 Image
Physiologically, DMT readily binds to the sigma-1 receptor, which plays a key role in protecting cells when oxygen levels are low

High levels of DMT may be endogenously released during death as an attempt to keep cells alive, with the side product of mind-alteration
8
Moreover, there is a known mechanism in the body for producing DMT (and its found in trace amounts)

The enzyme INMT has been shown to form DMT in vivo from the essential amino acid tryptophan. This suggests there is a ready mechanism to mass produce DMT if the need ever arises
9
There’s a lot of speculation on the matter, but the brute fact is that the mind enters an extremely altered state of reality when dying

Now, back to Islam. What’s interesting is there is a large amount of reports claiming that one passes through a ‘veil’ when on DMT
10 ImageImage
In the same surah as above, it’s mentioned that at death, a veil is removed from our perception and we enter the greater reality

My opinion is that DMT is the biological primer that begins the transition from a world of physical materials to a world of pure consciousness
11 Image
If so, this has great implications on who exactly the entities are on the other side of the veil, and the nature of the unseen world as a whole

Terrence McKenna, who has been using DMT for over 25 years, explains his personal experiences with these entities when past the veil
12
Note how he mentions they’re able to flow through his body, they’re not material, they can speak in his language and another, they tell him to dismiss the idea of God, they make offerings with objects, etc.

I argue these beings are amongst jinn and shayateen, and that
13
a person, when using DMT, but not dying, has a portion of this veil lifted enough to experience part of the unseen world

It then makes sense that the world they perceive is reported to be “unexplainable,” “non-newtonian,” “impossible to imagine,” etc., as it’s also reported
14
by the Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwas that the true nature of the unseen world is not knowable and of a completely different paradigm

It’s not simply the same as our world but just “invisible,” it’s expected to be inherently different
15
It’s not likely imo that what a person experiences on DMT is simply their mind playing tricks on them. This is because the things experienced are not explainable by waking or dreaming states of mind, and the consistently similar experiences of people suggests
16
that what is happening is outside the scope of a mere subjective experience. Passing a veil into a new reality, encountering beings, detachment from the material world, etc. are all quantified experiences by the majority of DMT users. This suggests it’s not merely subjective
17
At the end of the day though, Allahu alam

I understand this view is on the fringe of the traditional interpretation of that verse, but I do believe it’s something to consider and provides yet another insight into the wonders of the Quran and it’s everlasting relevance
18
The fact it mentions an intoxicant that brings truth, passing a veil at death, exposing an unseen world, etc. while there exists a natural human intoxicant with the same effects during death, is not a coincidence to me
19
With that being said, don’t do drugs. Instead, ponder the Quran 😇, and realize the kingdom of Allah swt is far more vast than we know, and that this worldly life is not worth settling for. There is more to come, and we want to be on the blessed side of it

Update:
New study (June 27) brings even more support that DMT is released during death Image

The Hard Problem of Consciousness: a question that will forever change the way you see reality, and a strong argument against atheism

[Thread]

Atheism is built on the premise that all things can be explained physically—that everything ultimately boils down to a material world
1
Consciousness, however, suggests that this isnt the case

In its simplest form, the Hard Problem of Consciousness is that a purely physical world cannot account for subjective experiences. Subjective experiences, however, exist. So, then, do we live in a purely physical world?
2
This is the basis of the Hard Problem. Let me give an example so it makes sense:

The color red. In nature, in “objective reality,” red doesnt actually exist. What does exist is a wavelength of 650 nm oscillating through space. Nothing more, nothing less. Its a purely physical,

The Fine-Tuned Universe: a message from God, written in the fabric of our world

[Thread]

We all agree that the universe is built upon fundamental and consistent laws. But when we look deeper, we find the nature of these laws have two parts: an action and a magnitude
1
What do I mean by action and magnitude? Action is *what* a universal law does, and magnitude is a numerical value for how *much* it does it

For example, gravity’s action is to pull mass together, and it does so at a magnitude of G (6.7x10^-11). If either it’s action or
2
magnitude were different, it would have dire consequences on if life could exist at all

The universe is filled with these extremely specific actions and magnitudes that “conveniently” allow life to exist. To go through just a few examples, take for instance

The enigma at the Origin of Life: an utterly unsolvable problem for atheism

[Thread]

Abiogenesis, the word for dead matter first forming into living things, is taken as a staple in the atheist world. Its just something that “naturally happens”

But how natural is it, really?
The more you dig into the question, the more you realize atheism runs into an ironic problem: the very act of abiogenesis necessitates God

Let me explain. There are a few leading theories on the origin of life, with the ‘RNA World’ as the most widely accepted. In this
2
hypothesis, it’s stated that strands of RNA were able to self assemble in prebiotic conditions, via random chemical reactions paired with heat, UV beams, lightning, and other physical processes. And that eventually, a strand who’s folded configuration was able to reproduce

The Argument from Contingency: this argument alone destroys atheism. There is no refutation.

[Thread]

We’re going to walk through a series of simple and true premises. From them comes a true conclusion: there *must* exist an Independent, Singular, Necessary Being
1
First, let’s define contingency.

A contingent reality is a reality that depends on something else. So it could have either existed or not existed, and could have existed in a different way.

A pen, tree, human, and the universe itself are all contingent. For example, the
2
universe depends on 1) being caused in the first place, 2) the substituent parts that make it up (matter, time, space, etc), and 3) variation; it could have existed a different way or not at all

The universe is contingent—it draws its qualities from these preceding factors

An interesting study revealed that when atheists dare God to do terrible things to them, they become emotionally distressed the same way religious people would.

What does this mean? Let’s take a look
1
researchgate.net/profile/Marjaa…
The study concluded that, despite atheists claiming they aren’t distressed by such statements (since they believe God doesn’t exist), their affective, biological response was equivalent (in fact higher) than religious individuals
2
Furthermore, daring an entity such as Santa Claus rather than God led to lower levels of arousal, suggesting atheists (despite disbelieving in God the same way they’d disbelieve in Santa Claus), were affected by God specifically
