NEWS: In new CNN interview, Former Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa confirms Ecuador was aware that Julian Assange was interfering in the 2016 US presidential election from the safety of Ecuador's embassy in London. w/ @kguerrerocnn cnn.com/2019/07/16/pol…
Correa told CNN: "We did notice that (Assange) was interfering in the elections and we do not allow that because we have principles, very clear values, as we would not like anyone to interfere in our elections." cnn.com/2019/07/16/pol…
More from Correa: "WikiLeaks' justification was that they were providing truthful information. Sure, but (it) was just about Hillary Clinton. Not about Trump. So, they were not saying all the truth. And not saying all the truth is called manipulation." cnn.com/2019/07/16/pol…
He made these comments one day after CNN published an exclusive story about surveillance reports that describe how Assange transformed the Ecuadorian embassy into a command center for election meddling. Read the full scoop here: cnn.com/2019/07/15/pol…
In the interview, Correa also distanced himself from Assange: "You know how many times I've spoken with Assange? Never. I don't know him. Just one time he interviewed me when he worked for Russia Today, via Skype." You can see that 2012 RT interview here:
The WikiLeaks disclosures were orchestrated by Assange and designed to undermine Clinton and give Trump a boost, according to US intelligence agencies. But speaking to CNN, Correa pushed back on the notion that his government supported Assange's political preferences......
Correa: "I am way closer to Hillary Clinton than Trump. I know Hillary, I admire her. I was a student in the US, doing my doctorate when Bill Clinton was (president). Trump is an enemy of our migrants. Why the hell are we going to support him? None of this makes sense."

EXCLUSIVE: Ken Chesebro, who helped devise the 2020 electors plot, concealed a secret Twitter from Michigan prosecutors, hiding dozens of damning posts that undercut what he told investigators about his role in the scheme. w/ @KFILE @emsteck @alligordon_ cnn.com/2024/02/26/pol…
Chesebro told MI prosecutors GOP electors were a contingency to be used only if Trump won election suits. Said it was "ridiculous" that legislatures could step in if Trump lost in court. But on his secret Twitter, he said courts didn't matter and legislatures should get involved Image
Further, Chesebro told MI prosecutors he didn't think Pence should be involved in picking which electors to recognize on January 6. But on his secret Twitter, Chesebro embraced the idea that Pence could throw the election to Trump with the GOP electors cnn.com/2024/02/26/pol…

Cynthia Hughes, who runs a support group for J6ers, spoke at tonight's Trump rally. She told the story of her nephew Tim Cusanelli, a convicted Capitol rioter — and Nazi sympathizer, who said "Hitler should've finished the job." This is their poster child for J6 "injustice." /1
An internal Navy probe found 34 colleagues who said he held "extremist or radical views pertaining to the Jewish people, minorities and women." FBI found racist memes with the N-word on his phone. He told an informant that he hoped for "civil war." /2 cnn.com/2021/03/14/pol…
He wasn't charged with violent crimes, but has been in jail since his arrest on 1/17/21. This is one of the gripes his aunt Hughes mentioned at the Trump rally. So why is he in jail? Judge was afraid he'd turn his violent rhetoric into action if let out /3 cnn.com/2021/03/23/pol…

THREAD: Putin's attack on Ukraine has been brewing for years. Along the way, Trump parroted Kremlin propaganda, excused Russian aggression & emboldened Putin. Memories are short — so here's my roundup of 4 things to remember about Trump, Ukraine, and Putin
cnn.com/2022/03/26/pol…
(1) Trump took Russia's side when the Ukraine conflict began in 2014. He praised Putin for invading Crimea. He said Crimea was Russian. And during the 2016 campaign, Paul Manafort was collaborating with a Russian spy on a secret plan for Trump to help Russia control the Donbas.
(2) Trump had a mixed record on arming Ukraine. He gets credit for sending lethal weapons — which Obama refused to do. This included anti-tank Javelins. But Trump later withheld $400m in military aid for political reasons, risking Ukraine's defenses for his own personal gain.

A group of North Carolina voters restarted their efforts to disqualify GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn from running for Congress over his role in the January 6 insurrection, by refiling their challenge Wednesday after it was disrupted by the state’s redistricting process. (1/4)
The challenge revolves around the little-used "disqualification clause" of the US Constitution, which was ratified after the Civil War to prevent Confederate officials and those who supported "insurrection" from returning to office. (2/4) cnn.com/2022/02/08/pol…
The anti-Cawthorn campaign is backed by a legal advocacy group called Free Speech For People, as well as Our Revolution, the left-wing group founded by Bernie Sanders. The two voters challenging Cawthorn are registered independents, and one is a former GOP county official. (3/4)

THREAD: Dawn Bancroft pleaded guilty today to a misdemeanor for illegal protest in the Capitol on 1/6. She's the rioter who said "we were looking for Nancy to shoot her in the friggin' brain." Judge asked DOJ why they didn't charge her with making the threat. Here's what happened
While pleading guilty, Bancroft was sharply rebuked by Federal Judge Emmet Sullivan. "That’s really troubling. It’s horrible. It’s outrageous,” he said, before turning his attention to federal prosecutors and asking, “Does it not rise to the level of a threat?”
Justice Department lawyers said they didn’t charge Bancroft with threatening Pelosi because she uttered the comment while she was exiting the Capitol building, potentially making it harder to prove that the threat to Pelosi was serious.

CAPITOL BOMB THREAT UPDATE: The Justice Department charged Capitol bomb threat suspect Floyd Ray Roseberry with threatening to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to use an explosive device, a judge said Friday. (1/7)
The charges were unsealed during Roseberry’s first court appearance in DC District Court. Roseberry, 51, is currently in jail and prosecutors said they'll seek to keep him behind bars while his case progresses in court. (2/7)
If convicted on the bomb threat charge, Roseberry could face life in prison, the judge said. If convicted on the second count, attempting to use an explosive device, the maximum penalty would be 10 years in prison. (3/7)
