So What is Value? It is the regard that something is held; the importance or preciousness of something. In other words; that quality or qualities of a thing, which translate it into worth in the mind of somebody else. Now what does that tell you?
It tells you instantly that there are THREE dimensions of value. If you understand these principles; you will begin to see how the rich think. Your mentality determines your value perception.
The 1st dimension of value is what I call RATIONAL Value (RV). RV is a cerebral or sensible value. That is; you want to buy a car, you are given a Mercedes on the right hand side, on the left hand side is a Ford Escort. So your instinct tells you that the Mercedes...
...is worth more than the Ford Escort. Things that have value because they make sense for it to be more valuable. That is rational value.
The 2nd dimension of value is what I call EMOTIONAL or IRRATIONAL Value (IV). IV is when the perception of value of something is linked to a particular or peculiar interest of the person in that particular area. For example why would somebody buy a painting for £50Million...
...– a tiny piece of painting? Or folks see an Elvis memorabilia and pay ridiculous amounts for the shirt Elvis wore in 1965 – someone will pay $10 million for it. What has the shirt Elvis wore got to do with that price? The value that person has attached is no longer Rational.
It is now purely Emotional or Sentimental. Things we therefore consider valuable not because it makes sense but because we just have peculiar emotional attachment to it is IV. Therefore we give it value based on emotional connection.
The 3rd dimension is what I call Political / Pragmatic or Self Interest Value (PV). In other words we give value to things because we think it is politically sensible to do so. I give value to it because it might advance my career. I give value to it bcos if I do that my boss...
...likes it. PV is a strategic decision to give value to a thing based on its current or future political/strategic importance. Example is you buying a work of art at high price, not bcos you are a collector; but u know your boss collects such work of art. So u use it to get...
...strategic advantage later on by giving the art to him for his Birthday for instance.

There is a dimension of value that makes sense. But there is a dimension of value that does not make sense. How do you command value when you are dealing with both quantifiable objective...
...and subjective elements? That is where many people run into difficulty. We all have potentials given to us by God; but how do you translate the latent potential into dynamic object others will perceive as valuable?
So, in every seed, there is a tree; in ever bird a flock...in every sheep a flock...in every cow a herd...in every boy a man...in every girl a woman...in every nation a generation. Tragedy strikes when a tree dies in a seed, a man in a boy, a woman in a girl,...
...an idea in a mind. For untold millions, visions die unseen, songs die unsung, plans die unexecuted and futures die buried in the past. The problems of our world go unanswered because potential remains buried.
Value is not solely on the quality of what you have but about the strength of how people perceive what u have. So bcos you have a skill does not mean that people will see it as valuable. Because you have knowledge of something does not make people see it as valuable if you...
...don't package it in the language of value. And the language of value differs from place to place.
