@Area17GZ 2) On the surface, the AAPI Civic Engagement Fund appears innocent enough, characterized as a left-wing voter mobilization group. Let’s dig a little deeper just to make sure there are no red flags. Here's a brief description from its homepage.

@Area17GZ 3) Here are their Vision and Mission statements.

No red flags thus far; seems to be a genuine voter outreach nonprofit for the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.
@Area17GZ 4) A little background on their history.

I noticed here that they have listed the following as founders of their civic engagement fund:
-Carnegie Corporation of New York
-Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund
-Ford Foundation
-Wallace H. Coulter Foundation
@Area17GZ 5) They also “support the development of experiments, case studies, polling, strategic communications, and other movement-wide tools,” in case you happen to be a liberal and are interested in that sort of thing.

@Area17GZ 6) Here's a bit regarding their fund cohort. They have raised over $5.2 million in grants since July 2014. The group did mention that they were previously operating on a "shoestring" budget, before gaining their high-profile donors in 2014.

@Area17GZ 7) This is their learning program. They have four learning areas:
-civic engagement
-strategic communications
-organizational development
-intersectional justice

@Area17GZ 8) They also have an annual convening which is held in a different city every year. This year's was held on January 14 in Los Angeles.

@Area17GZ 9) To be honest, I have absolutely no idea why this nonprofit was listed under NEO Philanthropy's "Child Organizations." This organization doesn't seem to have anything specifically to do with children.

That's probably a good thing, though 😌

@Area17GZ 10) All in all, this org seems to be nothing more than what is stated on its Influence Watch profile: a center-left issue advocacy group.

VERDICT: Appears trustworthy. Feel free to donate or get involved if it appeals to you.
