If Americans want to cut down on gun violence they have to force #Congress to fund the #ATF!

Additional firearm legislation is not only a violation of our Constitutional Rights, it will not reduce gun violence! #2ndAmendment

#GunControl does not include violating our rights!
#Congress must work for the American people and not corporate greed and lobbyists. They must fund the #ATF and require inspections of firearms dealers annually while also allowing re-inspection when they are found in violation of US Laws.
Congress is knowingly under funding the #ATF which prevents them from enforcing current US laws. Any representative insisting on additional legislation without properly funding the ATF is attacking our Constitutional Rights & using gun violence as a means to do it.
The ATF is currently not required to inspect firearms dealers. In rare situations when a dealer is inspected less than half are found to be in compliance. Many had serious violations including selling to people who are prohibited under US law to purchase a firearm.
Penalties for dealers violating the law are not serious enough & since they are rarely inspected many knowingly break the law. Penalties can include a simple reprimand requiring the dealer to fix the violation, however reinspection is not allowed!
In more severe cases formal warnings are given & they could lose their license but former #ATF officials say that is very rare.
When a dealer has their licence revoked many times they simply have a family member apply for a licence & continue selling firearms under that licence.
There are also many, many know cases of guns entering the United States illegally and the ATF is unable to stop them because of lack of manpower and resources available to them.

Note: The US is also arming cartels against the legitimate government of Venezuela. 🤔
In 2016 the ATF inspected just 7.1% of the 137,464 active firearms dealers for compliance. At this rate it would take 14 years to inspect all of them just one time.

There is no law that even requires licenced dealers to be inspected! They are only required submit to an inspections if the ATF does show up to do one.

The ATF however is legally barred from inspecting a dealer more than 1 time a year!

More information is the above article.
While law vary from state to state I think it is important to note that licenced water and wastewater operators are generally inspected at least one time a year or more. Nonprofit organizations are audited at least every two years. So it is shocking that firearm dealers are not
Federal law also prohibits the ATF and local law enforcement agencies from releasing the results of crime gun traces, so firearm trafficking patterns are hidden from away from public view.

The records reviewed by The Trace show: High-volume gun traffickers often depend on a single retail gun dealer for most of their firearms and rarely do those gun sellers face consequences for selling to gun traffickers.
Out of 11 Firearm traffickers who appeared most on the list of suppling guns used in crimes nine were tied to GAT Guns. GAT Guns also appears on a 2017 list of the top sources of crime guns recovered in Chicago Illinois and is still open for business today.
73,000 guns seized in Mexico were traced to the US from 2009 through 2014. I can only imagine that many of these guns end up being trafficked back to the United States in places such as Chicago along with the drugs coming in from Mexico.

Mike Detty; “At last I understood the ugly truth. All of the risks I took, all of the work I performed, all of the man hours and resources poured into this case by the ATF were not to take down a cartel."

ballisticmag.com/2018/01/15/pro…
“With American guns being used in ruthless savagery across the border, a push could be made for a new assault weapons ban here in the United States. There is no other explanation why guns would be continually allowed to cross the border after the purchasers,
their cartels and ports of entry had already been identified.”

Congress is not concerned about gun violence, if they were they would fund the ATF & require annual inspections as well as consequence for licenced dealers breaking US law!
Do not let them infringe on
