I don’t know...
I’ve been told repeatedly that it is absolutely unthinkable that any of these Evangelical leaders could possibly be influenced by the pandering leftist ideology of Critical Race Theory—that when they loudly condemn racism & white sup., they mean the real thing. 1/
I’ve been told that I’m an uncharitable jerk for thinking that they were adopting / utilizing secular leftist categories and talking points, and that the charitable interpretation is that they’ve been condemning actual white supremacy (e.g., Richard Spencer style alt right). 2/
For *months*, that has been the defense of these Evangelical leaders as they’ve repeatedly beat the war drums against white supremacy and racism within the Church, as they’ve warned Christians against the racism & white supremacy of “some conservatives,” etc... 3/
But now... now that we’re not talking about the hoi polloi..now that we’re talking about one of the elites being racist, suddenly the charitable thing to do is assume that they *are* using the leftist CRT meaning.

The message is clear: 4/
Our understanding of their usage of “racism” & “white supremacy” should be determined by what is most advantageous to them in the given context.

If they are speaking of the hoi polloi, it’s the very bad “racism” which we must take seriously & addressed *immediately*... 5/
But if they are speaking of themselves, then it’s the more innocent and mundane “racism” which carries far less moral weight, and need not be urgently addressed.

This is the double standard they expect us to grant them, and to suffer under. 6/
They want to water down the moral significance of racism & white supremacy in order to gain virtue points w the left, or to give themselves a false sense of “being compassionate.” 7/
But they don’t want us to recognize the watering down of those concepts. They want us to assign the same moral weight traditionally assigned to those terms, because it is that moral weight which gives them the currency they need to trade w the culture. 8/
These Evangelical elites have been inflating the currency of “racism” & “white supremacy” to purchase cultural acclaim &/ a false sense of virtue—all through the moral fraud of equivocation. And now, it appears that Matt Hall has unwittingly revealed the con for what it is. 9/
The jig is up.

It’s time to come clean.

I know some (maybe most) got caught up in the excitement & didn’t fully realize that they were trading in the funny money of fraudulent meanings & double definitions. But there’s no denying it now. The bubble has burst. 10/
It’s time to repent—whether of malice, negligence, foolishness, or all of the above.

And it’s time to start trying to fix what you broke.

If leading academics can succumb to the deception of CRT, how much more so everyday Christians? 11/
How much harm have you caused by downplaying the dangers of CRT? How much harm have you caused by implicitly endorsing it in your language? How much harm have you done by not warning the sheep & equpoing them to avoid the snares of the devil? 12/
The good news is: It’s not too late.

There is forgiveness & restoration in Christ.

Repent of the double definitions and the under-handed ways. And commit yourself to defending the Church against such schemes of the enemy.

And Christ will shine on you.

/End.
