So I was taken to the police station yesterday. I went to see @kunalkamra88's show in Surat. But it was cancelled because some people from RSS or Bajrang Dal or VHP called police saying Kunal is anti-Hindu, anti-national and he makes fun of military etc. (1/8)
Police cancelled the show saying he didn't get permission for the show. You know normal thing politicians do when they are afraid of the comedians. So, there was this guy who was there to stop the show. He wasn't from any organisation. (2/8)
I asked him politely why exactly he thinks Kamra is anti-hindu or any of the things they claim he is. He said read his tweets and watch his videos. I said I never came across such videos or tweets from him. Then he started asking my name. I answered. (3/8)
Then he asked my surname. You know in a normal way people ask surname to know your caste/religion so that they can judge you. I asked him why he wants to know my surname. He said "I want to know wether you're converted or not". I asked him to explain that statement.(4/8)
He said "converted from Islam or Christianity". I said you can not ask me that. At this point he noticed my friend was recording this. So he started getting aggressive with my friend telling him to stop recording. My friend resisted. And they got very aggressive after that.(5/8)
Police was there so they took us to them and then police took us to the police station. While we were talking to the police one of them (he was from VHP) came outside to tell others (who came to support us) that we won't be harmed because we are hindus. (6/8)
They made us delete the video. And took a statement/apology letter from us. This is what Hindu Privilege looks like. Because it was mentioned several times that we are hindus (without even asking us). It went swiftly just because we had hindu names. We were soon released.(7/8)
They were saying really Islamophobic stuff while police were there (at the venue). But when we recorded a video police were like "that seems like invading someone's privacy, gotta do something". (8/8)
