While I do refuse to put myself in any situation with a gun, it is 100% to protect myself from harm. I have never in my 30+ years of living with severe mental illness even felt an inkling of a desire to hurt someone else.
I am not a scapegoat.
I lose sight of the lines between real and not. I have had breaks from reality and I likely will again.
In person, I am quiet. Keep to myself. Weird. Sometimes I have trouble with social situations.
Have never considered hurting anyone else, ever.
In these 30+ plus years of severe mental illness, I have been beaten, abused, raped, stalked, mocked & slutshamed on a global scale. Dismissed as unimportant. Bullied systematically. Received death threats on a daily to weekly basis.
Never thought about harming others, ever.
The problem isn't mental illness.
The problem here is white supremacy and toxic masculinity. The problem here is white men thinking anything and everything is their divine birthright. The problem here is our nation is flooded w/ guns.
The problem is not mental illness.
I, and people like me, are not the problem and we are not your scapegoats.
Do fucking better.

I am not personally religious, but I have great respect for most who are. I believe that, like with any other set of beliefs, how your religion manifests in your treatment of others is what's important. Does it call you to service others? Help your neighbors? Bring you peace?
I honestly don’t care what you believe. I care about how your beliefs impact others. I care if you see me as less than for not believing. I care if you try to push/force your beliefs on me and my rights. I care if your beliefs cause blind hate for those not like you.
I love people who are devoutly just about everything. I respect their beliefs and will respect traditions especially if I am in their spaces of worship. I do not believe that any religion is better or worse than others.
