It’s late 2019. If you are a conservative evangelical pastor/ldr and you’d like to but feel you can’t speak out on racial issues, white nationalism, immigrant bashing, or any other issue tearing our country apart, maybe you should find another job? theatlantic.com/politics/archi…
2) I mean, I get that many of you have to be careful. But, this has been going on in earnest for over 4 years now. If you still think you can’t speak up lest there be blowback, but you agree that all of this is wrong, maybe you should get in a place where you can tell the truth?
3) The next year and a half is going to be worse than what we’ve seen before unless God intervenes miraculously. I pray He does. But, one day years from now, we’ll all have to answer for what we said and did during these days. Let it be more than taking a paycheck to be quiet.
4) I’m not saying you bang on these issues all the time. Please don’t. I’m just worried about the pastor who knows what is happening around him is wrong but he’s been paralyzed by fear for 4+ yrs and feels like he can’t say a word. That is miserable. Find someplace else to serve.
5) Denying who you are and what you know to be true and the what the Bible says to keep peace and not create any controversy will ultimately destroy you. Or, you will rationalize it all and say none of this really matters and let’s move on. Or worse, this is all as it should be.
6) There is a Better Way of Jesus that is accessible and that we can walk. But, it is a narrow way and few find it. It is the Way of the Cross and of sacrificial love, not the way of glory and power. But, we meet Jesus there, outside the camp.
7) All my life, Evangelicals have been about saving souls and praying for revival. But, what if the souls that need saving first in this day are our own? Not that we aren’t Christians, but that we are in peril if our very survival and position is based on compromise?
8) Many that I used to really admire have gone silent so they can hang on to their positions and keep ministering in other ways. I get that. And, I’m not going to tell a pastor/ldr what they should say constantly. I just mean overall. It’s been years now. Its not getting better.
