From a psychological point of view the current crisis stems from the collapse of the the image of aristocratic benevolence and its replacement by something between contempt and hatred. In the words of Kurz, after a idealistic introduction it is "exterminate all the brutes".
The new mission civilisatrice is no longer in darkest Africa but in whitest America. But it's the same old aristocratic types with pith helmets.
The people on TV were the new missionaries and video the new pulpit. But it came apart because the aristocrats lacked quality, like Bernie Woosters overappointed as Viceroys.
The parallels are everywhere. The scions of great families who can't go into the family business, STEM or finance go into gender studies. The woke empire is outdoor relief for aristocrats who couldn't make it otherwise.

In Starmer's defense, these mass rapes occurred for years under both Labour and the Conservatives. Nobody wanted to rock the boat. Nobody wanted to make waves. Elon came along and the problem was how to make it go away. Starmer's thinking "you SOBs: I won't take the fall."
What puzzled me from the start was the paltriness of the demand: "we want an independent inquiry into 250,000 rapes". A what? Then it occurred to me that maybe, just perhaps, nobody really wanted anything to happen. Just a big hoo-ha then back to business as usual.
That doesn't mean of course that everyone is insincere. Many doubtless are totally committed to destroying this evil. But there's probably a massive amount of inertia in the system: corrupt police, welfare bureaucracies, featherbedded councils and the class system.

Can Duterte hitman live long enough to testify?

"At least two other members of the Davao Death Squad had already made their way overseas to be witnesses for the I.C.C. He was aching for his chance, too."
"The men often worked at the Laud quarry, on the outskirts of Davao City, each cave and hideaway swathed in tropical green. There, the squad dismembered and buried hundreds of bodies over a quarter-century"

One of the adjectives UK pundits are applying to themselves in the grooming gang aftermath is "cowardly". However cowardice and bravery are both partly habits. To a certain extent people learn to be cowards just as in some cultures they are expected to be brave.
For many decades now the West has extolled the virtues of the victim over the barbarism of the brave. If you see some creep torching a sleeping woman on the subway do not absolutely do not get involved. Bleat for help and wait.
What must have astonished the rape gangs after their initial tentative forays was the complete lack of resistance. Where were the fathers, brothers and boyfriends of the female herds they effortlessly stampeded? Where was the manhood of England?

The US probably needs another 50 years of space dominance and planetary peace to create the foundations of an inner solar system civilization. That opportunity is on everyone's mind though it is verboten to speak of it.
The possibilities of such a breakout are so vast that they dwarf all historical precedents by comparison. An inner solar system wide civilization represents an advance on the Kardashev scale from the present greater than the difference between the stone and industrial ages.
I suspect that Trump/Musk will be the first to introduce the space colonization race as a global political issue. The technology is far enough along to speak of it as potential reality rather than sci fi. I think the Left sensed this and though unspoken it drove its fear.

To understand the collapse of the media it is first important to understand its rise. People trust the voice that brings them plenty. During Cold War 1, Pravda was the voice of sawdust sausage, the gulag and the KGB. The BBC was London buses, miniskirts and American supermarkets.
The media was once the song of whiskey, democracy, sexy. Then at some point it became the screech of diversity, equity and inclusion; the drone of degrowth, global warming and self hatred. It became the voice not of plenty but poverty. People stopped believing.
Ask yourself: is it really your idea of a good time to watch blank faced faced octogenarians stumble around a stage? Watch obese transvestites caper in the spotlight? We signed up for a future of flying cars and space babes, not to eat bug salad under a creaking windmill.

Why does the workman believe the football scores in the newspapers but not the big stories? Because he may have watched the match himself or knows someone who has. Information corruption will blind the educated most, who only know things at second-hand. Image
Reliable knowledge must ultimately rest on personal expertise and trust networks which is limited by the Dunbar number. For the rest your mileage may vary. This sets a limit on global governance because even leaders can't be sure they are hearing the truth.
Perhaps the basic reason that tyranny ultimately fails is that complex systems are very difficult to understand, let alone control. The little tyrants attempts to rule the universe, but it's too big. The ideologue is like the dog that catches the car.
