Massive corruption, fraud, law breaking all over this. Looks like organized crime rackets. YET, the only ones arrested are the poor immigrant workers. That is another form of injustice and corruption. Save the “rule of law” talk. It’s hypocrisy. foxsanantonio.com/news/nation-wo…
2) Happens in Deep South states where EVERYONE knows what’s going on. Knew church people in Alabama who hired undocumented immigrants and paid cash under table for jobs. Would joke, say they were hard workers. Okay. But then they never stood up for them when publicly attacked.
3) Every. One. Knows. What’s. Going. On. Wealthy white women in expensive neighborhoods pay Hispanic maids in cash. Kickbacks offered from contractors on roofing jobs w/ all Latino work crews. If these people in Alabama cared about rule of law, they’d turn themselves in.
4) But, we use people, laugh about it, pocket the money, go to church on Sunday, get mad if preacher says we should love immigrants, cheer for Trump as he degrades immigrants, and then talk about “rule of law.” Rich people have been breaking the law for yrs and No. One. Cares.
5) Every church building project in the South over past 20-30 yrs employed immigrant labor. Poor men who spoke no English. Do we really believe they were ALL here legally? Yet, when construction costs were lower for church than w/ U.S. born labor, we celebrated. Praised God!
6) Now, we fully support Trump who gained power by inciting fear and blaming/demonizing poor immigrant workers WE benefitted from. We refuse to advocate they be legalized, that their families be protected. We used them. Now we abandon them and cheer their deportation. The South.
7) Tell me how this is morally better than abuses from the past? The hypocrisy is absurd. WE ALL KNEW. Now, we want their families torn apart and the very people who picked our produce, built our houses and church buildings, cleaned homes of our friends - we want them deported?
8) And we all want to act like the past 30 years never happened, that these people weren’t really here, didn’t really live and love and work and die among us. We want to put them away to “Make America Great Again” because we now feel threatened by their very existence? God sees.
9) How we think we’ll escape judgment of a just God for this is beyond me. We don’t believe in the God of the Bible if we agree w/ this course. Raids on 680 immigrant workers in MS w/ no arrests of managers 4 days after El Paso w/ Trump saying it’s a good deterrent is it for me.
10) We need to rectify this. Stop blaming poorest and most vulnerable among us. Powerful forces wanted them here, hired them, made billions of dollars off of them in many industries and personal service. They’ve been here for yrs. We need to help them get legal and protect them.
11) The only moral way out of this mess is to go forward. Give mercy to those who came to work and those who hired them. Allow those who came illegally to pay restitution and get right w/ the law b/c of their status and let those who benefited from this situation help them.
12) When the law is ONLY applied against the poor who have no recourse and no protection, that is a perfect example of systemic injustice. Our system makes it almost impossible to prosecute the employers and consumers who benefit from illegal labor. We need to let them get legal.
13) Here’s my position on voting here. I don’t care who you vote for. If you support Trump for other reasons, be clear. This isn’t about politics for me. But, when it comes to THIS, to degrading of immigrants, to cheering their arrest when we all benefited - say NO. Oppose that.
14) If a vote is a pledge of allegiance for a candidate, if we can’t cast a vote to support some aspects and then oppose other actions, if we have to be silent in the face of all future injustice lest their opponent gain power, then it’s better for Christians not to vote at all.
