Today in my sermon, I told story of the gunfire in the Montgomery school drop off line and how my friend ministered to Int’l families who were there. After El Paso, they must have been so afraid! A Filipino man later thanked me for not being afraid to speak to these things. 1/
2) I didn’t say that much - just that following Jesus means we see needs around us and we respond w/ compassion; That we consider how frightened immigrants around us might be this week and express love. And, that mattered to him. That caused me to realize even more the situation.
3) Pastors, the whole nation is convulsing. People in your church and community are scared and confused, especially if your church has immigrants or People of Color (if not, why not?). Even expressing a word of compassion matters. Saying nothing probably isn’t the best approach.
