My two bit on United v Chelsea game. ( It's a bit of a long thread)
De Gea. First thing first I'm so happy De gea looked sharp yesterday. Of all the disappointments last year seeing a shaky De gea was biggest of em all and I hope it's all past him and he goes back to being the goalkeeper god
The new boys AWB and Maguire impressed. I rate AWB was my ( as well as most fans) first choice option at right back in the market but Maguire was never my first choice at right back but he looked the part even more impressive considering its been a week since he joined United
Mcsauce and pogba is going to be our first choice midfield this season. I think this is the best way to use pogba's multitude of attributes. He looked rusty in the first half but he improved in the second half and he always as that genius in him like the rashford pass
We need an upgrade on lingard ( ole
knows that's why we went for
dybala/eriksen) . Periera is a odd
one it'll be interesting to see how ole
uses him this season. His assist to
martial was great . He can add a bit
of creativity in our final third which
we lack dearly
Our season depends on rashford and martial having a combined tally of atleast close to 30-45 goals. Rashford looked the part but martial was a bit frustrating until the goal and after the goal he was sharp. need that consistency from both of them
For me lampards subs played to our advantage . He was naive and over confident with his first two changes which we exploitef then brought on Kante as damage control.
If ole had to pick one setup he wants
his opponents to play he would
choose how Chelsea were setup.
Lamps asking the defs,mids
to stay wide apart for passing
options which left so many gaps for
us to exploit even in Ist half which
we failed to capitalise with poor
passing
To sum it up an absolute dream start to the season but we will face tougher tests than this game , hope we're up for it , the players improve as the season progresses and remain consistent for most of the season
Thread :Mohan Ranade was a lawyer by profession . He was from Maharashtra. In 1950's though India was free Goa was still under Portuguese rule. Ranade entered Goa in 1950 under the pretext of being a Marathi tutor and joined Azad gomantak Dal , a covert Goan independence movement
For nearly 4 years he carried several armed attacks against Goan police posts liberated Dadra and Nagar haveli. He became the most wanted man in Portuguese colonies. the last such attack was at Betim, in 1955 in which he was injured , captured and exiled to Portugal
Goa attained independence on 19 December 1961 when jawaharlal Nehru and the Indian army threatened military action and cut off all the supplies to the Portuguese settlers. Ranade who was facing live imprisonment was rotting away in a jail in Portugal despite Goa 's freedom
Here's a fun fact : The Turing's lived in India since the 1700s. His father Julius Turing was Indian civil service ( ICS/IAS) officer under madras presidency . He was fluent in Tamil and Telugu . He was married to Sarah Turing who was born in podanur ,TN . (1/3)
Her father was Sir Edward Stoney, chief engineer at madras railways he built the tungabhadra bridge in Andhra and invented non creaking punkah fan. They were married at their bride's family residence in Coonoor, Stoney's estate which is now owned by Nandan Nilekani of Infosys 2/3
His brother was born in Coonoor, but Alan was born in london cause there was a taboo among English society over children born in the colonies. Due to his frail health Alan stayed with guardians in England while his mother left to india where his family remained until independence
