On my way to the Portland protest. If the far right kills me please don’t let it go. No thoughts and prayers.
- Protest in the street.
- Storm the concentration camps.
- Impeach Trump.
- Know that I love this city and that if I go I’d want it to be defending it from bigots.
And with all that said, let’s get ready to party!!!!
I’m safe. Headed out. We collected hundreds of dollars of period supplies we will be donating to a local shelter. Portland came out. Only saw a few dozen fascists. Thousands of Portlanders. Wish our mayor would have stood with his city against bigotry.
I had to text Michelle this just now because someone I thought I was close to and their friend called this a scam. They messaged people who commented or shared my posts. I was shocked and couldn’t understand. I sent irrefutable proof and got an apology but the damage was done.
The original posts had numerous screenshots of the documents sent to me by the victim. Their main evidence was that it’s my cash tag. I thought this was obvious but I’ll explain why that is. 1. I have kept the victims identity private for safety purposes. I only used middle name.
2. I wanted to do a gofundme as I thought it would raise more. However, I got the facts of this case on Friday I think and court is tomorrow (Monday) so that wasn’t an option.
I need to sleep. I am representing Michelle in eviction court at 8:30 AM. I just met her and I am so glad I did. We need to raise $730 by 8:30 to secure options to avoid homelessness. We’re hoping to wake up to a miracle. She wanted me to share this message to you all. (Thread)
She’s right that we need a miracle. If we don’t wake up to just $730 more tomorrow then her path to remain housed shrinks a lot. Right now I’m getting my hope from her.
If you don’t want to or can’t send digitally, don’t trust me, only deal in cash, want to hand it to her yourself, want to show up to show your support, or maybe just want to meet this amazing human then you can meet us at Washington County Courthouse at 8.
However, we have to even get to 2k first. If we don’t, I don’t see a reason why the landlord won’t just take it to trial and enforce an eviction judgment. If they won’t play ball my plan is to work with landlords lawyer to set a trial date rather than have the court set it.
Anyways, I said I would update you all and that’s where we are at. At a minimum we need 1,000 more dollars by Monday at 8:30 AM. If by miracle we get to 12k we might be able to settle with landlord and get her housed.
Aside from money, if you know any places in Portland or the surrounding area that are flexible or reasonable on first/last/deposit or services that can help then please DM me ASAP. They do have a tiny puppy that will remain tiny too.
Update: We’re at ~$1,000 to keep this survivor housed. While I’ve been saddened by the slow response on donations I am so pleased with all the support people have offered. From advocates willing to fight, lawyers willing to represent, and providers willing to connect to services.
Through discussion with great lawyers it seems it doesn’t make sense to have a strong community showing at a first court appearance but if it goes to trial then it might. The current goal is to negotiate with landlord to pay everything, avoid eviction, but promise to move ASAP.
However paying everything means raising 11k in one day when we raised 1k in one day so far. Also, we think the 10k could be disputable since they haven’t provided documentation. So more than likely we will pay everything that’s the exact basis for eviction so 2k, not all 12k.
We need to raise 12k by the 1/9 to keep this pregnant survivor that escaped trafficking from being evicted. I was sure the story would be enough to spur the community into action. But in the first night we have raised just $125. So she has asked me to release the photos tomorrow.
By photos I mean the aftermath of one instance of physical assault that led to her calling the police. Her landlord then gave her a warning for eviction due to police presence. Even after knowing why cops were there, said if they came again she would be evicted. They did.
Releasing the photos was incredibly reluctant to do. I tried to encourage her that it wouldn’t be necessary, that her story and my platform would be enough. The fact that it is sickens me. It hurts to see how many people viewed the tweet and just scrolled.
A pregnant survivor of sex trafficking and domestic/sexual violence needs our help. This is one of the most heartbreaking injustices I have asked for community help on. Michelle is being evicted for police activity at her apartment after her abuser/stalker appeared 3 times.
I chose not to post the gruesome pictures of her injuries but seeing them ensured I would do everything I could to stop this eviction. She became pregnant, lost her mom to covid, and was badly beaten after her escape all within the past year and is now being evicted for it all.
She was given her final warning after just the second instance of police activity and the property basically told her if police came again she would be evicted. Proof above. They then made her life hell including towing her car 6 times as she couldn’t afford new registration.
