"so you and mina are dating, but it's not really dating? all because you're a huge wimp." jeongyeon sits across from nayeon.

an hour ago, nayeon had called her to meet her in their diner, it's for the best jihyo couldn't make it. one idiot telling her she's being dumb is enough.
nayeon nods but continues to look down into the mug, finding the coffee more interesting than jeongyeon's judgmental look, "kinda, yeah."

"run what exactly happened again by me one more time, i feel a little confused." jeongyeon still feels a bit lost on the whole thing.
nayeon sighs, but knows she has to tell someone or she might go crazy for the next week. that's all that it is, one week.

"well, yesterday..."
-- nayeon's sitting on the couch, first she spent a whole morning doing a breakfast shift, and waitressing in the morning is arguably the worst.

and then she spent the afternoon with her camera, so she's tired out. so of course, she just wanted a relaxed evening with netflix.
unfortunately, that seems impossible when mina came through the door twenty minutes ago, arguing with her mom on the phone.

it was almost more entertaining than the show she had been watching though.

maybe she was sitting on the couch, with her pasta, mostly eavesdropping.
(she was.)

she had paused the tv show a two minutes when mina had started huffing. and well, it's not her fault mina puts her phone on speaker phone when she's trying to cook.

it's not her fault that the kitchen is right next to living room. with literally no door way.
nayeon mostly hadn't been following for the most part, but it had originally sounded like mina's mother had been talking about how mina's brother's struggling with wedding planning.

her ears however, did tune in when she heard the next words.
"speaking of, mina, what about your love life, you haven't told me anything. you know-"

she didn't get to hear the rest of that because mina had thrown down her her spatula and grabbed the phone to turn it off speaker phone.
"want me to leave?" she asked just loud enough for mina to hear. but mina had just shook her head.

nayeon knew better than to press, especially when it came to mina's mother. from what she knew, mina's mother puts a lot of pressure on mina for her future.
especially the future that involved her love life.

mina usually complains about it on nights involving the two of them, television, and too much wine.

so instead of worrying, nayeon goes back to eating her pasta. she doesn't turn her show back on though.
a few minutes pass, and it seems mina keeps changing the subject. it also seems like she keeps trying to end the call.

"mom, stop! i'm dating someone! okay?"

that line catches nayeon's attention because, since when? nayeon would know if mina had a girlfriend.
she would know because, they both spend their free time together or in the house, they both are clearly single.

nayeon, very much by choice, if anyone asks.

also because she would be very much heartbroken. she's only been in love with mina for two years.
she's still mid-bite in her pasta, ridiculously holding up her fork in front of her face, giving mina a confused look. not sure what mina's talking about, trying to ask without words if mina will tell her who, when apparently gets her answer.

just as mina's mother does.
"yes, i am, like i said. her name is nayeon."

mina makes eye contact just at that moment with nayeon, but nayeon can't even pay attention to that.

she can't pay attention to the fact she just drops a fork full of food either. because her brain feels like it's on fire.
nayeon doesn't listen to the next two minutes of conversation, doesn't hear what mina explaining, that yes it is her roommate.

doesn't hear mina tell her mother she HAS to go.

all she can pay attention to is panic in head and her heart that won't stop racing. is she dying?
she's definitely dying.

she only seems to snap out of it when she feels someone take the plate of food off her lap and wave their hand in front of her face.

oh, it was mina.

"nayeon? hello, earth to nayeon? hey are you okay?"
"uh..huh, what?" nayeon finally shakes her head when she realizes that she's crashing into reality and the last few minutes weren't a fever dream.

yes the girl she's been in love with, told her mom that they were dating.
"what...why would you say that?" nayeon asks before mina can speak.

"uh...well. i just - i don't know, i panicked she just kept ranting about how i never have good news about my love life and..." mina cuts herself off and shakes her head. "i'm sorry nayeon."
"uh." nayeon can't even seem to form a sentence, instead just kind of looks at mina, confused. "uh...what did she say."

"weirdly, something about not being surprised...once i explained it was in fact, you." mina shakes here head. "i dont know, i don't understand."
nayeon can still barely process that information and instead, sits up and pushes herself all the way against the arm of the chair. curling into herself, holding her knees.

trying to put some distance between them. maybe that will calm her body.
"so, when are you going to tell her...you know that we aren't dating."

mina frowns but looks away, and mumbles something, and nayeon definitely can't hear.

"uh, what was that?"

"uh, maybe after we have dinner with her?" she says slightly louder.
"what?!" the words come out louder and faster than intended, and she can tell it scares mina a little because she jumps. "sorry, i didn't mean to yell! just...what?"

"she asked if we could have dinner on friday, and that's why i said yes quickly. it got her off the phone."
mina has a pout and nayeon's heart does something stupid again. she already knows what ever is about to happen, she's doomed.

"we're doing what?" nayeon literally just keeps hearing sirens in her head, she swears it. "dinner? we aren't even dating! i can't meet your mother!"
mina is finally looking at her full on and there is a pout, nayeon can't stop staring at it. for many reasons. she doesn't want to even think about them.

"can you please? we can break up right after or something! or i'll tell her the truth!"

"did you just think that up?"
"kinda..."

nayeon just huffs, her gaze goes back to the paused show. she had just been mentally wishing her life had been like a movie. but the good kind. not like this.

"please, nayeon?" mina asks quietly.

"i-" she shakes her head. "fine. but we are talking about this." --
jeongyeon is laughing, full on laughing, the loud kind. it makes nayeon glare. that is not what the story is supposed to do.

"hey! what the hell? why are you laughing." nayeon throws a napkin at her.

it doesn't stop her laughing.
"because, you had the perfect opportunity to tell her of your feelings and you didn't." jeongyeon gets between laughs. "and instead you got yourself in the most ridiculous situation."

jeongyeon's taking a sip of water trying to calm herself down.

"shut up." nayeon grumbles.
jeongyeon just shakes her head. and nayeon groans, pouting just a little bit.

"you know i came here for your support. and maybe advice. not to be laughed at."

"well...you got me laughing. let me guess, you haven't even talked about it."
nayeon goes to answer but instead just shakes her head.

"that's what i thought. do you really want to hear my advice."

again, all jeongyeon gets is a nonverbal response. a nod this time.

"tell her how you feel. like i've said for the last two years."
"i can't do that! not now! she'll think it's weird. plus i told you, we're roommates. it's weird."

"have you guys seen how you two act? it's not like roommates..." jeongyeon trails off as she takes another sip of her water, but even nayeon can tell she's smirking.

"shut up."
"do you want my advice or do you want me to shut up?"

nayeon goes quiet.

"that's what i thought. so you either tell her how you feel. or you get yourself out of this situation. it's only going to go bad."

nayeon doesn't say anything for a little bit.
"did you hear me nayeon?"

nayeon nods but then she just huffs.

"did you HEAR me?" jeongyeon makes sure to emphasize the word.

"yes, i did. okay i'm just thinking." nayeon snaps a little, but knows that she did ask jeongyeon for advice.

"thinking?"
"why don't i go home, and at least hear what she has to say? then i'll decide."

jeongyeon just looks at nayeon a little annoyed. "do you listen, like at all?"

"i'm just thinking, maybe it won't be so bad..."

"i should have made jihyo come."

"hey!" nayeon glares.
"i don't know how to say this nicely. so i'm not gonna. nayeon, don't be stupid. otherwise you're fucked."

nayeon groans again, letting her head slam against the table. just enough for it to be dramatic, not enough for her it to hurt.

"i already am."
nayeon took the long way home because she had hoped, that maybe, some genius idea would have popped up on what to do.

some way that she could magically just make time speed up and finish this and she could go back to pining quietly from the distance.
going back to waiting, and hoping that if she waits long enough maybe, just maybe, mina will magically say something first.

or even catch feelings for her in the first place. which she clearly doesn't have.

"whatever," is all she can mumble to herself.
she's silent the rest of the way, only pausing when it comes to opening the door.

she wishes she had waited longer, or took longer to get home when she walks inside and sees mina on the phone.

"yes, i'm sure we're coming, mom." mina's sitting at the table, looking annoyed.
the annoyance leaves when she sees nayeon, she almost looks relieved. it leaves nayeon with an uneasy feeling. like she just walked into something. again, she wishes she had taken longer to get home.

"oh, would you look at that! mom, i have to go. my girlfriend just got home."
nayeon's eyes widen, and mina shakes her head begging her not to even say anything.

"bu-" nayeon's interrupted by the violent shake of mina's head.

"shh," is what mina mouths. "yes, she is. can you please stop bugging me about the dinner and let me welcome her home?"
"wh-" again, though before nayeon can ask what's happening, mina makes a motion for her to be quiet. this time with her finger being held against her lips.

she's not dumb, she knows when to shut up. so she does.

"okay great. yes, okay. mom, yes. we will. i'll remember!"
mina has to take another thirty seconds before she can get off the phone, and nayeon's just standing there awkwardly.

keys still in her hand, not even wanting to place them on the table, nervous the sound might cause something.
"yes, okay, bye." mina doesn't even seem to wait for a reply before she's off the phone and setting it down. "that woman could talk for hours, on the same thing. my god."

nayeon tries to laugh a little, but it comes out a bit like a nervous laugh, over an amused one.
"uh, so we're just jumping right into the g word then," nayeon says taking a seat on the other side of the table. "cool, cool. got it."

mina, however, just looks very amused, "you are, right? my girlfriend for the next few days?"

nayeon hates how she almost dies on the spot.
"um...well. you said we would talk about it more today so i thought..."

"you thought what?"

nayeon finally feels a bit confused. she had agreed to do this but they hadn't talked about it. doesn't mina see why she's confused.

"uh..."
"i'm just kidding. i know i'm sorry i overstepped," mina's laughing again, but it's quietly. "and i'm sorry i didn't let you talk, but i swear she hears everything. i just wanted to get off the phone."

"that's kinda what got us into this mess."
she means it as a joke but it must not come off that way. when nayeon glances at her mina has her lips pursed, like she's trying to decide what to say.

"you're right, it is. and i'm still very sorry. you doing this...i can't thank you enough."
"don't thank me yet, we haven't really talked about it. we don't even know if i'll be good at it." nayeon's trying not to pay attention when she says the last words. just in case mina for whatever agrees, that she would be bad at it.

"you're going to be great."
well. she hadn't expected that.

"huh?" is all she can really manage. no real thoughts seem to even form after that.

"well. you're one of my closest friends. we live together. you, besides my two best friends who are dating each other, are probably the best for the job."
"what?"

mina's laughing again, and it makes nayeon go red. she gets mad at herself for again not forming fully sentences.

"you know me best. you're probably the only one who knows me as well as a girlfriend can. you'd be great as faking mine."
nayeon's heart falls a little at that. she didn't know why but she had felt a little bit of hope in the beginning of all that. but it was killed pretty quickly.

"right." nayeon tries to cover up her hurt with a smug smile. "no offense, but you'd be lucky to have me anyway."
"oh, and you wouldn't be lucky to be my girlfriend?" mina's moved to cross her arms, and she's sounding playful.

she is completely unaware how lucky nayeon would feel. how much she wishes for it. she knows she would be the luckiest.
"lucky to have a video game obsessed, watches too many movies, has bad taste in a lot of food, nerd as a girlfriend?"

nayeon starts laughing as soon mina's face changes to one of shock and then annoyance. reaching over to hit her on her arm.

"now you're just being mean!"
"hey stop hitting me!" nayeon's leaning back in her chair trying to get away, still laughing.

it unfortunately does not hold as the chair tips over and she lands on her ass in seconds with a scream.

mina watches, standing up just to glance over the table at the other girl.
it takes exactly ten seconds of her staring before she's full on laughing at nayeon.

"hey! you made me fall stop laughing at my pain!" nayeon's yelling still doesn't stop mina, and nayeon's glare doesn't last long either. she's joined mina laughing pretty quickly.
when it dies down, nayeon is still on the ground. mina gets up to help her get off the ground. nayeon makes a show of brushing herself off.

"so mean, first hitting me and then making me fall. what kind of treatment is that to your new girlfriend?"
this time it's mina who's the one shocked, but she covers it quickly with a smile.

"well don't tease me so easily next time," mina huffs. but she's also smiling so nayeon can tell she isn't that upset.

nayeon can't help but smile back.
and if it's quiet for a minute too long as they do, neither of them notice.

"we do need to talk about that," nayeon says finally. "i don't even know how you expect to pull this off. so let's talk okay?"

"sure."
it's later, they're both sitting on the couch facing each other, with the take out sitting between them.

"you really need to stop ordering so much take out, nayeon." mina says, trying not to seem too amused at the fact nayeon almost choked because she was eating too fast.
"rude! and we're not here to talk about that anyway. we're here to talk about the plan."

mina nods, finally taking it quite serious, she sets down her own plate in her lap. "i spent most of today thinking it over, i have most of it figured out. as long as you're comfortable."
its about thirty minutes later when nayeon realizes she must have done something dumb in a past life to end up in the situation she's in.

"so let me get this straight," nayeon finally breaks what had felt like a very long silence. "we are going to go to dinner with your mom."
"yes..."

"and then, we are going to tell your mother that we have been dating for TWO months." nayeon holds up two fingers. "and then, we are going to have to some how play it off like we are both happy yet, some how make it believable that we would break up a week later."
"when you put it like that-"

"wait, wait, i'm not done," nayeon interrupts. she ignores the annoyed look mina gives her too. "and then. we also have to act like a couple in front of your mom, even though, we have not been one."

"yes..." mina squints her eyes just a bit.
"wait, not done."

"nay-"

"not done!" this time, nayeon really can't ignore the annoyed look. she's pushing with the interrupting. but it's fine. mina got them into this. "and then i also have to impress your literally crazy mother."
"she's not crazy!" mina snaps, but then she takes a breath. "sorry. she's not crazy...she's just got a lot of expectations."

"you just told me that she once asked a girlfriend you had for a week what month she found ideal for weddings." this time it's nayeon looking annoyed.
"well..." mina has a bit of an awkward look, rubbing at the back of her neck. "she's eccentric. maybe a little pushy."

"you literally called her a witch last week," nayeon deadpans.

"shut up." this time mina's got a pout on her face, and nayeon rolls her eyes.
"i'll do it," nayeon mumbles under her breath, not even making eye contact.

"what? i didn't hear you?" mina tilts her head. and nayeon can't tell from her tone if she's serious or not.

"i said i'll do it," she whines a little, finally looking at mina. "on a few conditions."
"anything," the way mina says it, nayeon can tell it was almost like a weight had been lifted on her shoulder. she was so relieved.

"one, you save me from any crazy questions she comes up with. two, you're cooking for me for whenever i want, for like ever. and..."

"and?"
"you promise me, that this won't ruin anything between us." nayeon's desperate for her to agree to that last one, she hopes that mina realizes that.

mina just smiles at her though. that same smile that makes her heart hurt just a little. she's so stupid in love its ridiculous.
"you just made that second one up because you hate cooking."

"mina, promise!" nayeon's moved her leg to kick her, hating her only for a second. especially when she laughs.

"i promise you, nothing will ever ruin what we have between us, nayeon."
nayeon can't figure out why, even after that, she isn't reassured.

she ignores that feeling anyway.

holding out her hand and her pinky. mina immediately and without hesitation she intertwines their pinkies.

"i pinky promise, nayeon."
"so let me get this straight," jeongyeon holds in a laugh at her own stupid joke. "you did the exact opposite of what you should have."

"now-"

"no, we both know you shouldn't have done this at all." jeongyeon interrupts her and all nayeon can do is glare.
"what was i supposed to do? say no?" nayeon picks at the napkin that's sitting under her coffee cup. "we already told her mom."

"you should have gotten yourself out of this, or you should have told her." jeongyeon rolls her eyes. "that's it, i'm telling jihyo to come here."
"no!" nayeon's leaning across the table to stop jeongyeon's hands from reaching for her phone on the table. "stop, no, please."

"why would you grab my hands instead of the phone itself?" jeongyeon can't stop laughing and nayeon looks confused.
it takes a second but jeongyeon and nayeon both look at the way nayeon has grasped jeongyeon's hands while she's hanging half over the table.

in a swift movement, she lets go and grabs jeongyeon's phone just in case, extra measures and what not.

"shut up, stop picking on me."
"that's never happening, loser." jeongyeon shakes her head, but leans back in her chair. "why didn't you do what i said? why would you ask for my advice and then ignore it."

nayeon looks at her for a second but she can't last long, and instead looks distantly out the window.
it goes on like that for a few seconds, maybe even a minute, but jeongyeon waits patiently anyway. she's known nayeon long enough to know how this goes.

nayeon's brain, her thoughts, are a maze, and she can't push for them, only wait for nayeon to say them.

"because..."
"because?" jeongyeon prompts.

"because, what if this is the only way i could ever have her like this? like she's mine. even for a day."

jeongyeon's eyes widen, but a frown follows quickly. "you don't know that, if you just told her..."
"we aren't you and jihyo, jeongyeon. i'm not you, i can't just blurt it out one day." nayeon laughs but it holds an almost sad tone. "i'm not brave."

"that's not true, and you know it." she's quick to respond but nayeon chooses to ignore it anyway.
"when this is over, we'll go back to who we are. mina will be as amazing and beautiful always. and i will love her quietly."

nayeon shakes her head, focusing back onto her cup now instead of the window.

"you need to tell her or you need to move on, nayeon."
"maybe after this."

jeongyeon gets quiet and nayeon looks as if she appreciates it. instead she tries to change the subject.

"what will happen if she asks you to kiss her?"

"what!?" nayeon's scream makes everyone in the cafe stare at her, and jeongyeon laughs louder than her.
"well that's what girlfriends do, you know." she's holding her sides, trying to speak between laughs.

if looks could kill, nayeon's would have murdered her two times over.

"not in front of parents!"

"you don't know that, some do."

nayeon just looks terrified.
across town, mina is meeting with momo. her cousin's girlfriend. and now one of mina's closest friends.

"sana didn't mind me stealing you?"

"no, she's stuck at work anyway. she wished she could come though."

mina just grins at that. she misses them, they work too much.
"but that's not what we're here for, right?" momo speaks but she's staring almost too lovingly at the plate in front of her. "what you texted me about last night, you think that's gonna work? trick your mother?"

mina shrugs, "i think so."
"and you just convinced your roommate to do this?"

"gross, momo, finish eating before you talk." mina's giggling but momo's smile doesn't leave her face. "and you've met nayeon! she's wonderful. i think she'll impress her enough to get her off her back."
momo had met nayeon several times. mina and momo go to school together, they run into each other a lot.

nayeon comes to pick up mina from classes a lot, she's there sometimes when she goes over to mina's to study. it's just running into her here and there.

but that's enough.
"yeah, i guess..." momo trails off for a second, but shakes her head when mina gives her a questioning look. "it's just that, nayeon was okay with that?"

she's not stupid.

"what does that mean?" this time, mina really looks confused. "i told you last night, that she did."
"i know," momo gets quiet and goes back to digging into her lunch, feeling like maybe she's intruding.

she doesn't have to meet nayeon formally or know her very well, to see how she looks at mina.

"then what did you mean?" mina questions.
"just...is that fair to her?" momo knows that mina is oblivious but, she has to know SOMETHING, right?

"clearly it is, she's the one that agreed? what do you mean?" mina puts her own utensils down and sits back, almost seeming a little upset.

"nothing..nothing." momo backsteps.
"clearly you meant something."

"no, i didn't, nevermind. i just figured that this would be tough on her, but you're right. she said yes."

momo tries to placate the situation, feeling like she can almost see the disaster this can become. poor nayeon.

poor mina.
"lets get ice cream after this, okay?" momo grins, covering up the whole awkwardness.

"okay..." mina still seems confused but nods her head, going back to her food.

"we can bring some to sana! she'll be getting off of work soon."

that brings a smile to mina's face, "okay."
they both get home at the same time.

mina and nayeon run into each other almost literally at the front door. nayeon had been texting someone on her phone and mina had been playing a game on her phone.
nayeon looks up just in time to stop herself. mina only stops because she hears nayeon scream in surprise.

"ow," mina goes to rub at her ear. "you're so loud."

"i am not!" nayeon whines just a little before pouting. "besides you almost ran into me."
"only because you weren't paying attention," mina says with a grin before she turns to unlock their front door.

"hey not true." nayeon goes to shove slightly at mina, who huffs in response. "you weren't paying attention either."

"for a good reason."
"your stupid farming game or whatever, is not a good reason." nayeon groans as she takes off her shoes after entering the house. mumbling something about a long day.

"it is not a farming game, shut up." mina huffs, but goes to fix nayeon's shoes so they aren't thrown all over.
they both make it to the kitchen, looking for something for dinner.

mina has the fridge open while nayeon is trying to open a candy bar when she clears her throat.

"hey nayeon?"

"hm?" nayeon stops with her candy bar and just looks at mina with wide eyes. "whats up?"
mina's glancing over the fridge door, a long pause between them, before she clears her throat again.

"you would tell me if you were uncomfortable with doing this thing with my mom, right?'

"oh." nayeon just looks at the ground. "yeah, of course."
mina can't stop thinking about what momo had said earlier. what had she even meant? she closes the fridge and walks over to where nayeon is and takes the candy bar package and opens it for nayeon.

nayeon just stares at her dumbly, but takes the bar back afterward.
"i'm serious nayeon," she looks her in the eye. "it's important to me."

"yeah, i know..." nayeon just nods. her heart pounding far too fast. "i'm...uh, i'm fine. i promise. i want to do this."

mina smiles immediately. "good, i'll have you know i'm an amazing girlfriend."
nayeon ducks her head as mina returns back to the fridge, mumbling mostly, "i'm sure."

"what was that?"

"nothing, i said you'll have to prove it!" she lies, before she makes her exit, needing to get to her room as fast as possible.
"what's the worst that could happen?" thinks mina. this is such a simple situation, and it'll be fine.

---

in her room, nayeon's thinking the same thing. "what's the worst that could happen?"

except hers is filled with anxiety, so much could go wrong.
it's doomsday, at least that's what nayeon keeps thinking as she paces the mina's room.

mina's still fiddling with her dress in front of the mirror, she's been watching nayeon panic through the mirror.

"you're going to walk a hole into my room."
"huh?" nayeon finally stops and turns to the other with the most confused look.

mina just sighs, and places down her brush on the dresser. walking over to the still confused nayeon, she places her hands on her shoulders. "you're panicking."

nayeon's confused face just falls.
"no kidding, mina. i wonder why." she snorts just a little before dropping her head. "mina, i think i'm sick. i can't go." she goes back to pacing.

"you're not, you just ate a large breakfast." but mina watches her with a slightly amused face.

nayeon just stops again.
but mina just nods her head, waving her hand toward nayeon. "come on, lets here your excuses."

"kitchen's on fire?"

"we're in the apartment," mina makes a show of waving her arms around the room.

"the dogs sick?" this time nayeon knows it sounds ridiculous, so she pouts.
"we don't have a dog but nice try."

nayeon just makes a show of whining before basically throwing her body on to mina's bed. tilting her head to look toward mina who had apparently gone back to fixing her dress and looking over herself one last time.

"mina?"

"yeah?"
"you look pretty," the words slip out almost effortlessly but nayeon really doesn't even think about it. "stop trying to fix something, nothing's wrong. you look amazing. pretty."

mina grins, even blushes a little, causing her to duck her head. but she takes a deep breath.
and then she heads over to nayeon where she offers her hand for nayeon to take. nayeon's now laying flat on her back. but when nayeon takes it, mina pulls her almost entirely too close.

nayeon's overwhelmed, but she's even more overwhelmed when mina wraps her arms around her.
"uh..." nayeon's pretty sure the sirens are back, they're so loud and she can't focus. "...hi?"

"hello," mina's grinning. "will you tell me why you're so nervous. this is easy, you're amazing. i wouldn't have chosen you as my fake girlfriend otherwise."
it takes a minute for nayeon to catch up, when she does she raises her an eyebrow. "technically you just yelled the first name you could think of."

"you're always the first person i think of."

(the sirens are back, nayeon swears, they're just nonstop now.)
"fine, whatever." she expects mina to pull away, and yet she hasn't. and nayeon's literally not sure what to do anymore, she's not upset with being this close to her. "you get that one."

"hm, i thought so," mina's tone just sounds a big smug. "so what are you worried about?"
"oh you know, just the whole meeting your mom thing. all of it. what if she doesn't like me? what if she finds out? what if i do the wrong thing?" nayeon finally blurts all out at once, she's not even sure if there was a breath between words.

"you've met my mom before though?"
nayeon can only blink at mina because, in what universe had they met? mina laughs because she realized she's confused her.

"you've said hello to her a few times when i'm on the phone..."

nayeon shrieks and pulls away from mina immediately, her face red.
"that does not count!" she had forgotten that she had obnoxiously yelled 'say hi to your mom!' or anything else along those lines on multiple occasions. "oh my god, do you think she's gonna remember that."

"she does often say to say hello to you, so yes. most likely."
while nayeon's looking mortified mina's almost falling over while laughing. it takes a few minutes and a few hits with a pillow for mina to calm down.

they're both holding the pillow between them when mina finally stops laughing.
"alright, alright, i promise i'm sorry! but your face was priceless." mina finally yanks the pillow completely out of nayeon's hands when she's pouting. throwing it back on the bed. "no more laughing at your expense, i promise."

"you better not."
mina wants to say something but her phone chimes. she goes to pick it off the dresser and check it.

"my mom says she's heading over to the restaurant which means we should too."

nayeon's whole body just falls back to bed in seconds. maybe she can melt into it.
if she was feeling anxiety about this thing beforehand, its three times worse now. "do we have to?"

"well...no. we don't." mina's voice is suddenly serious and the playful tone from earlier is gone. "you don't have to do anything here."

nayeon sits up on the bed immediately.
"hey, wait, i was just...you know messing. i mean i'm nervous but uh," nayeon's hands start wringing together. "i want to be your girlfriend. fake girlfriend. for tonight."

nayeon hopes that mina doesn't hear the slip up. or how hard her heart's beating at her own slip.
mina smile instantly at that. and nayeon does too, part of nayeon knows that as long as mina's smiling she can get through this.

probably.

nayeon's standing up anyway and intertwining their hands this time.
"let's go knock the socks of your mom. show her how much of a great couple we are."

what they could be.

mina's squeezing her hand in return. smiling that dangerous smile. "let's go then, if we let her get there first we won't hear the end of it."
