Life moves pretty fast in Trumpland. Just when you think you’ve got a handle on the scandal from five minutes ago, he turns around and does something even more horrifying. It’s easier than it has ever been for yesterday’s stories to slip from our collective memories.
So an important part of modern journalism is when reporters go back to the scene and tell us what has been happening since the cable news trucks left town.
Three pieces this week you should read if your haven't: The first is some quality journalism by the LATimes, which went to Mississippi where ICE raids hollowed out a town and left a church missing some of its flock.
The second doesn’t come from a reporter, but rather superstar Rep. Veronica Escobar, who takes to the NYT to tell us what’s happening in El Paso two weeks later.
And the third is about how Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley had to get security after the president of the United States decided to use a moment of tragedy to pick a fight with her.
Donald Trump and his hateful words and actions are leaving a trail of damage through a broken country. It is vital that we remember the communities that are being wrecked and use those memories to fuel our commitment to change.
Imagine if Republicans spent as much time and money as they have manufacturing investigations into Joe Biden, Mayorkas, Garland, etc, and put that time into doing one single fucking thing to put food on the tables of the American people. Or protect our borders.

Boris Nemtsov was Russia’s much loved Putin political critic & anti-corruption crusader.
He was gunned down on Feb 26, 2015 in the shadow of the Kremlin on the eve of addressing a massive peaceful Moscow protest against Putin and just before releasing a major report on Putin’s war in eastern Ukraine.
Today marks the 14th birthday of ACA. Tomorrow, we celebrate the first birthday of our son Paxton. ACA's impact on our lives has been profound, and we've decided it's time to share our story. #HappyBirthdayACA
On March 24, 2023, Paxton was born. His struggle began immediately as he couldn't breathe on his own and had toxic blood pH levels.
Without ACA and Children’s Hospital, we don't know where we'd be today, or if Paxton would be with us at all.
Republicans in the Kentucky Senate just passed a bill that would allow teachers to misgender students. Republicans in the Kentucky House are hoping nobody will be paying any attention when it comes to them. Retweet and make sure they know the world is watching.
If you are not following the incredible Democrat @karenforky by now give her a follow. She is giving it every single thing she has even when no one is watching or listening.
