NEW: 65 House Democrats just sent letters to FBI Director Wray and Acting Homeland Security Secretary McAleenan demanding answers about the Trump Administration's attempts to weaken the federal response to white supremacist extremism.

Here's why. 1/
beyer.house.gov/news/documents…
@RepEscobar @repbenraylujan @RepTimRyan @sethmoulton @RepBarbaraLee @RepJoeKennedy @RepMcGovern @Ilhan @RepRashida @davidcicilline We know that white supremacist violence represents an enormous growing threat. FBI Director testified to this effect last month, and the @HouseJudiciary had an entire hearing on the grave and growing threat of domestic terrorism. 2/
@RepEscobar @repbenraylujan @RepTimRyan @sethmoulton @RepBarbaraLee @RepJoeKennedy @RepMcGovern @Ilhan @RepRashida @davidcicilline @HouseJudiciary We've seen the awful toll in El Paso, Poway, Pittsburgh, Jeffersontown, Charleston, Charlottesville, and many other communities. Hate-fueled violence is claiming American lives.

It's getting worse despite warnings about this problem going back years. 3/ time.com/5647304/white-…
@RepEscobar @repbenraylujan @RepTimRyan @sethmoulton @RepBarbaraLee @RepJoeKennedy @RepMcGovern @Ilhan @RepRashida @davidcicilline @HouseJudiciary We've seen a dismally weak response from the Trump Administration. The White House made no mention of white supremacy in the National Counterterrorism Strategy, and cut the budget for agencies responsible for fighting it. This is a serious problem. 4/ npr.org/2019/06/04/729…
@RepEscobar @repbenraylujan @RepTimRyan @sethmoulton @RepBarbaraLee @RepJoeKennedy @RepMcGovern @Ilhan @RepRashida @davidcicilline @HouseJudiciary Much worse, the Administration appears to be actively making it harder to find out just how bad things are. This includes withholding from Congress requested data on white supremacist terrorism, despite the fact that they had a report on hand already. 5/ news.yahoo.com/heres-the-data…
@RepEscobar @repbenraylujan @RepTimRyan @sethmoulton @RepBarbaraLee @RepJoeKennedy @RepMcGovern @Ilhan @RepRashida @davidcicilline @HouseJudiciary Most appallingly, the White House interfered to block the Department of Homeland Security's request to prioritize combating domestic terrorism, according to reporting by @jaketapper. cnn.com/2019/08/07/pol…

Failing to take this threat seriously jeopardizes national security. 6/
@RepEscobar @repbenraylujan @RepTimRyan @sethmoulton @RepBarbaraLee @RepJoeKennedy @RepMcGovern @Ilhan @RepRashida @davidcicilline @HouseJudiciary @jaketapper Funding and personnel requests have not reflected real-world conditions, and it's hard not to conclude that the White House's attempts to downplay the threat of white supremacist violence are related. Close allies of the President appear to have gotten that message. 7/
@RepEscobar @repbenraylujan @RepTimRyan @sethmoulton @RepBarbaraLee @RepJoeKennedy @RepMcGovern @Ilhan @RepRashida @davidcicilline @HouseJudiciary @jaketapper Taken together these developments give the strong impression that the Trump Administration is politicizing law enforcement and hampering efforts to fight white supremacy in ways which may endanger American lives.

That is alarming and unacceptable, and we require answers. 8/8

The U.S. economy has added 6.4 million jobs in the first year of @POTUS' term (with time still to go).

The last three GOP presidents saw 1.9 million (Bush 41), 1.4 million (Bush 43), and –3 million (Trump) total jobs added during their entire presidencies
fred.stlouisfed.org/series/PAYEMS
Under President Biden's leadership the U.S. economy has seen THREE TIMES times as many jobs created in a single year as were created under the past three Republican presidents *put together* across sixteen years.
Republican presidents have served 10 four-year terms since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began publishing employment situation reports.

Only one of those four-year terms saw more jobs created than the 6.4 million we've added since @POTUS took office less than one year ago.

One year ago today insurrectionists launched a violent assault on the home of American democracy. My statement: beyer.house.gov/news/documents…
The crowd that attacked the Capitol included white supremacists and violent rightwing paramilitary groups. They constructed a gallows, and called for the assassination of the Vice President and the Speaker of the House.
Incited by the Big Lie of a lawless President bent on retaining power at any cost –a fact we know is true because the insurrectionists themselves repeatedly said it– they hoped to halt the peaceful transfer of power and overturn the results of an American election.

They failed.

I understand Governor-elect intends to appoint former coal lobbyist and Trump EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler to serve as Virginia's next Secretary of Natural Resources.

Wheeler is one of the worst people the Governor-elect could have chosen for this job.
Andrew Wheeler is not who you get to show you are going to govern in a pragmatic way based on the common good and bipartisan consensus.

He's an anti-environment ideologue.
Wheeler implemented an EPA dirty air rule his own agency said would cause *1,400 deaths* and breathing problems in thousands of people, many of them children.

Confronted with the projected toll, he ordered the agency to change how it did the math to produce a lower number.

As we approach the anniversary of the January 6th attack on the Capitol, House Republicans are doing what they did from the moment the attack began: lie about it.

Why are they lying? We all know.

These lies were factchecked and found false apnews.com/article/fact-c… again and- 1/ ImageImage
