I want to start a short satirical thread on this: "Commentary: Watch for casual ageism and other signs of caustic attitudes about older workers" po.st/ah0r5h via @ChannelNewsAsia
@ChannelNewsAsia Scene: meeting room with clients. Older workers interrupt meeting. "Time for my medicines". "Doctor says I must walk around the room every 30 minutes". "Cough cough cough cough cough".
Scene: Younger employee: "You mixed the wrong chemicals again..." Older employee:"My vision was a bit too blurred just now".
Scene: Older employee: "I feel giddy..." Passes out on office floor.
Scene: Older employee preses and pushes virtual screen buttons and sliders but cannot get interface to work.
Mind you, all these Older Employees are aged 65 and older.
Young Upstart Manager: "The older ones are literally slowing us down". Elderly employee: "Back in my day...." YUM: "Thank you, thank you, please take a rest."
Frankly, it just isn't a simple stroke of the pen and organisational culture changes to accomodate elderly workers. Please think carefully, Dear Government of Singapore.
Sunday trivia yadda thread... years ago, I read in an article about British royal etiquette, that milk is to be poured into the cup after the tea. /..
I did observe that our fairly generous refreshment canteen at the Post-Grad School of Management I attended in England, served the milk first, as a matter of practicality in a mass service environment. ../
I think it is actually more convenient to pour milk first Followed by tea, because the sheer turbulence caused by the incoming second liquid, makes stirring with a spoon less necessary. ../
Blinking socialists grabbing the national narrative
Stop poking at folks living in private homes and asking if the should also receive financial aid.
There are many who have worked their whole lives to pay off their private house mortgage and they are now elderly, may be widows or widowers, may not have adult children living with them...
Thread: Singapore, Sunday. After trying to do everything only online, the fastest way to mitigate my rapidly degenerating iPhone battery situation, was to head on over to the Singtel shop at the mall.
There were no iPhone 11 Pro nor Max models available, because China production has been halted. So I decided to upgrade my dying iPhone6 S Plus to an iPhone 11 (basically a XR).
That, plus my service re-contract, was only half of the budget Ihat I expected for the 11 Pro purchase. Well, not a deal breaker in any way, because I can get 3D AR using a Theta device. Also paying less and getting more for telcom service...
Just let me get this off my chest. Thread starts. If you’re a “fan” of Jim Rogers like I am, you’ll watch the various third-party produced video interviews in which he provides some insight into his investing thinking and experience./..
He has mentioned in more than one such interview his view about the prospects for the Japanese economy going forward. He says get out of there, go work somewhere else, it’s just going to get worse etc etc ./..
I disagree with him on that point. Japanese in general take great pride in being Japanese. They would rather stay on and prevent the economy from tanking, doing so with their own hands if necessary.
So, of the four titles @ANIPLUSAsia was supposed to air the July-Sept 2019 season, 3 were cut off halfway.
