And while I’m here- the most valuable thing I learned in therapy was having “me boxes”

Basically compartmentalized boxes with things I love. So when I’m stressed I can reach into my box and self soothe.

The first box was about the senses. So I had 1/?
A makeup box. In it, I had a swatch of fabric scented w/ my favorite perfume. A yarn swatch of the most luxurious yarn I’ve ever touched (silk/cashmere blend btw), a pic of a landscape I’ve always loved, a flash drive of my favorite relaxing songs, and some of my fav candy 2/?
I would go to it when I was stressed. I also had a journal. I would document what stressed me. What my triggers were. And what I grabbed first from the box.

Eventually I learned certain feelings made me want different coping mechanisms.

So anyways. 3/4
Now I have several boxes, color coded, and stacked in my closet. When im upset, I already know based on what’s upsetting me, what color box to go to.

I know if I want to listen to something, touch something etc. most useful thing I got out of therapy. 4/4
