One of the 4 pillars on which our admin stands is the expansion of our economy. To this end, the Oyo Ile Investors’ Forum, an NGO led by my good friend, Yinka Owodunnni, presented its report to our admin this morning, stating 8 takeaways from the event which held on May 27, 2019.
These takeaways are; aggregate investment potential over 4-8 years, job creation, increased access to healthcare, efficient waste disposal, cooking gas (LPG) penetration, integration of women into the real sector, increasing tax revenue and identification of potential investors.
Cabinet members were also part of the event to interact with members of Oyo Ile Investor’s Forum & potential investors to facilitate adoption and implementation of the recommendations. Oyo State can take advantage of proximity to Lagos to become an economic hub in the South West.
Our admin is already working to provide a conducive environment for business, including improved security and infrastructure. We recently advertised opportunities for public-private partnership (PPP) investment opportunities which savvy investors should take advantage of.

Let me use this opportunity to say good morning to our people at home, at the farms and everywhere. I greet you all and say well done. This is political season. Don’t be afraid because we will also pass through this period and get back to governance.
Question on achievements in the past 3 years:
When we came in we focused on 4 pillars: Education -we will ensure that Oyo State from WAEC results and other data, we were able to move from 26 to number 11.
We also said that in the healthcare sector, primary, secondary and tertiary, we were going to ensure that our healthcare facilities were not just mere consulting rooms. To a large extent we have been able to make progress.

Statement by Governor Seyi Makinde Regarding the Suspension of Twitter’s Operations in Nigeria by the Federal Government

It has become imperative for me to release a statement regarding the suspension of Twitter’s operations in Nigeria by the Federal Government.
As leaders, we should go beyond emotional reactions to issues and think about how our actions will affect the people we lead and our international ratings socially and economically.
Twitter has become the platform for young people and indeed all Nigerians to exercise their fundamental right to express and publish an opinion. They use the platform to complain, argue and give feedback to government and its agencies who in turn, use these to improve policies.

Join my quarterly media chat on @bcos_tv this morning at 9 AM. I will be giving an account of my stewardship in the past one year.
Good morning everybody. It's a pleasure to be here. I will start from works and infrastructure: looking at roads like Moniya-Iseyin Road, Apete-Awotan-Akufo Road, Idi-Ape Basorun Road, these are not roads that can be tolled. However, a road like Circular Road will be tolled.
We won't go into debt, because people are paying taxes. Remember when we came in IGR was less than N2 billion a month but we have been able to increase it in over N3 billion and we did this without raising taxes. We just expanded the tax base to include the informal sector.

Following the meeting held with representatives of Igangan, Ibarapaland which was attended by security stakeholders including the recently appointed Commissioner of Police, Oyo State, Mrs. Ngozi Onadeko, our administration has come up with a security strategy for that zone:
Deployment of Additional Operatives of the Amotekun Corps
We have resolved to redeploy 200 members of the Oyo State Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun to kidnapping/banditry hotspots in the state, especially in the Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun zones.
These operatives will launch missions to rid the forests of criminals. They will be presenting daily reports of their activities to me in the short run and periodic reports in the long run.

Following the recent events in Tapa, Ibarapa North Local Government Area, it becomes imperative that I once again reassure the good people of Oyo State that our administration is doing everything in its power to address security issues in our state.
One of the strategies we are using to check insecurity in the state is the recently introduced Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun). I am fully aware of the alleged highhandedness by some members of the corps. We are investigating these issues to address them promptly.
The welfare and security of the good people of Oyo State remain our top priority. We will not sit back and watch any harassment or intimidation of members of the public or our security officers.
