Keep having tweets telling me I am not an expert

I know I am not an expert, as I am followed on here by @michaelgove!

More seriously: I am a commentator, not an expert

And they are not necessarily the same

But as a commentator I am careful to draw on expertise of others
@michaelgove As a qualified lawyer I do have some areas of expertise but I rarely tweet about those

I claim no special knowledge other knowing the law and being fascinated about how law, policy and politics mix

And I love legal-policy messes, like Brexit

Love them
@michaelgove Commentators and generalists assuming they know better than experts is half the problem this country has

Experts should not be slavishly deferred to, but they should be respected

And no decent expert minds being asked hard questions, and it is an alarm bell if they do
