1/ About Aarey being a forest area
Aarey is not a forest. This issue is settled in the High Court. The notification for the reservation for a car shed in the Aarey Milk colony is also legally tenable and settled in the court.
2/ Inside Aarey, you have Sankraman Studios, Aarey milk colony cow and buffalo sheds, hutments and Royal Palms. All of these have good permissions under various state govts.
3/ Dilawar Nensey of the Royal Palms group was close to several Cong ministers who facilitated he got illegal constructions permissions. But that is besides the point. If interested pls see pic.
4/ For clearance for Aarey land, the HC judgement stands. Check the Writ Petition no. 2766 of 2017 filed by Ms Amrita P. Bhattacharjee & others. #AareyAiklaNa #AareyAikaNa
5/ Next comes the issue of adivasis in Aarey.
There are no Adivasis the area being occupied for the car depot. They stay in the padas deeper inside, adjoining Filter pada, Marol, Film city, Royal Palms, etc. #AareyAiklaNa #AareyAikaNa

Depot land is surrounded by 3 major arterial roads including JVLR together carry more than 1 lakh vehicles per day. As per EIA study report there is no wild life habitat in Car Depot location. #AareyAiklaNa #AareyAikaNa

Depot site is unpaved in 75% of its area, about 22 hectares. Now that will allow the rain water to directly seep into the ground. So, the ground water charging will continue to take place in 75% of the area. #AareyAiklaNa #AareyAikaNa

8. Sariput Nagar
9. Kanjur Marg

12/ Out of these only Aarey Milk Colony and the Kanjur Marg sites were found suitable. Along with Kanjur Marg site, a smaller depot of 16 stabling line capacity at Aarey Milk Colony was also part of the proposal for being operationally essential. #AareyAiklaNa #AareyAikaNa
13/ Depot at Backbay was not perused considering the large scale reclamation required over 3 to 5 years, and wide ranging implications on Environmental & Marine ecosystem.

The Kanjur Marg land availability was explored in the courts, and also the site investigations and planning were undertaken by MMRC in the year 2016.

21 Ha - The depot in the present form is of optimum design, and occupies only about 21 Ha of the land.
4 Ha - Land required for the main line related functions and for the station.
5 Ha - To be retained as Green.

Mumbai Metro 1 operated by Reliance Group is used by about 4 lakh people travel everyday. Which means per day they are leaving their personal vehicles, autos, taxis and other modes of transport. So less polluting. #AareyAiklaNa #AareyAikaNa
