The worst thing about John #Bercow as Speaker, removed by @Conservatives for excessive bias and abuse of the House, is that he succeeded another Speaker, Michael Martin, removed for the same reason.

If the next Speaker is not impartial, the powers of the office will go.
Parliament cannot be held to ransom by a supposedly neutral arbiter who then meets with factions representing only one side, mocks and taunts the people’s expressed will in a nationwide vote, or sides with one political party as Martin did before Bercow.
All those saying ‘Bercow was a champion of Parliament’ are, almost without exception, Remainers. He was NOT a champion of Parliament, but a champion of John Bercow. Hence Tories sitting, silent. By contrast, they gave Tony Blair an ovation on his resignation.
It is not, therefore, merely about party politics. David Cameron had Tory MPs on their feet for Tony Blair, who was warmly sent off across the House. Bercow commands zero respect from 50% of the MPs. After Michael Martin, it’s a legacy so bad, it threatens the Speakership itself.
