Absolutely amazing scenes from #parliament's #prorogation
1. Only a dozen govt peers, and no opposition, turn up for ceremony in the #Lords
2. Placard-waving protests at the Speaker's Chair in the #Commons
3. Speaker John Bercow says "This is not a standard or normal prorogation.... it is an act of executive fiat" and reluctantly agrees to process to the #Lords
4. Tory MPs leave for the #Lords but opposition MPs refuse - they stay in the #Commons and sing songs
5. Meanwhile, govt MPs attend the formal ceremony in the Lords (with Bercow looking furious)
6. Speaker Bercow returns to a standing ovation in the #Commons and - where the Opposition boycotted the #Lords, this time the government boycotts the #Commons.
7. A breakdown in the consensus of running parliament?
Opposition MPs and only a couple of govt MPs queue to shake the hands of the Speaker.
