(Some possible references/citations that may give more depth to this song. I find this song quite meaty tbh A lot of possible metaphors &connections😅)+

+ 1ST VERSE: Opens about “lights of stars” and then associates them with the “blinking lights” on buildings. BTS soon talk about how these lights are shining in their “own rooms” and “own planets” which connects with what Carl Jung said about humans+

+, as found in the book, The Collected Works of C.G. Jung below:

+Basically, man is a world in himself, a walking mini world. If Earth is the outer world, man is the inner one.

This also reminds me of Serendipity & the connections to The Little Prince whose titular character lived in his own separate planet (a microcosm).+
+ 2ND VERSE: In this verse, it describes the kind of lights these are. At this point, it seems clear that these lights are people themselves. Some are “ambition” and others “aimless wandering.” And no matter what kind they are, they are “precious one and all.” This reminds me of+
+ the phrase in the chorus of Epiphany: “...this precious soul of mine.”

3RD VERSE: This verse seeks to console the lights or people to not be “lonely” or to “disappear” and underscoring or highlighting one’s existence being important and urging or convincing this person. The+
+ word “disappear” in here recalls a line in Magic Shop (“On the day you want to disappear…”) and Butterfly (“Don’t try to disappear”).

PRE-CHORUS: In this verse, it talks about how the night is beautiful not because of “those stars nor those lights” but because of “us” or+
+ rather our existence itself. In this, the emphasis is on internal aesthetics or beauty. The stars or lights shine from within.

CHORUS: This chorus then reaffirms what I thought from the pre-chorus—that the beauty is inside because the lights are from within and make us glow.+
+ Because of this, the person “dream while looking at you.” It seems praise of our nightscape itself, w/c reminds me of RM’s Moonchild: “We’re each other’s nightscape, each other’s moon.” This also reminds me of Answer: Love Myself: “The sad me /
The hurting me /
That which will+
+ be even more beautiful, ‘美’(beauty)”

TRANSITION VERSE: This verse about the “starlight” is encouraging by saying ”we” are brighter than the night or our tribulations in life & that our light “shines brighter, the deeper the night turns.” This recalls lyrics from BTS’s+
+ Tomorrow where they sang, “Because the dawn right before the sun rises is the darkest.” It also leads to Lights lyrics: “When I close my eyes / your light shines on me” [chorus] & “I can see the light while I’m breaking down” [bridge]. This pinpoints hope in the midst of abyss+
+ /adversity/chaos—a silver lining.

4TH VERSE: This verse describes the population in this world, specifically referencing how there are 7 billion people on earth.+

#BoyWithLuv #TheMusicVideo #PCAs + @BTS_twt
+ 5TH VERSE (PRECHOR AND CHORUS AFTER THIS): This part seems to mention about a mirror world of 7 billion people and how it’s similar wherever. This may be connected to the concept of Decalcomania (making a mirror image made thru a design-transferring technique on paper,+
+ ceramics & so on), but this time pertaining to an asymmetrical copy of one town to the next (that is, there are different people from another town, but may have similar circumstances with the town before it). In this there is talk about dreams shining and one shining more than+
+ everyone else—w/c may be linked to Singularity (being one of a kind).

BRIDGE (FIRST HALF OF CHORUS AFTER): This verse talks about “the city’s fire, this city’s stars” & remembering one’s childhood night sky. This recalls to RM’s UN Speech again about looking up at the night+
+ sky and dreaming. There’s a reiteration about the fire (connected to fire or passion? Cue: the song, FIRE) and star of a person. The internal qualities of a person shine. In retrospect, this can also be connected to BTS’s Japanese song, The Stars: “We’ll be alright / ...Like+
+ that shining star that emits light as though it won’t disappear.”

In Answer: Love Myself, stars can also refer to scars: “When even the scars left from my mistakes
/ Are all my constellations”—scientifically, constellations are made up of stars.

CODA 1: Talks about shining+
+ individually yet differently.

CODA 2: Talks about shining from within and as who we are “tonight.” Possibly connected to RM’s song, Moonchild (chorus lyrics): “Moonchild, you shine /
When moon rise it’s your time.” This can also be connected to Magic Shop: “So you’ll give you+
+ the best of you
/ You’ll find it, the galaxy inside you.” (Magic Shop talked about one’s inner galaxy [or inner stars] while at the same time talked about the stars on the sky.)
