An independent filmmaker (who asked to remain anonymous out of fear of reprisal) was stopped at the US-Mexico border for the first time in Dec. 2018. A CBP officer identified him in a video officers had of him in the field; they held him for two hours : pressfreedomtracker.us/all-incidents/…
Less than a week later, he was stopped for a second time. CBP officers questioned about his reporting on the #migrantcaravan, asked him to identify “agitators,” and searched his equipment and phone : pressfreedomtracker.us/all-incidents/…
If you are a journalist—or know of one—who has been stopped for secondary screening and questioned about your work or had devices searched by U.S. officials while crossing the border, we want to hear about it: DM or email tips@pressfreedomtracker.us. #JournosAtTheBorder Image
