Today the @premierleague has a vote on whether to revert the changes to the transfer window of a couple of years ago.

It’s now clear that they hoped that the rest of Europe would fall into line with them. 🙄🤷‍♂️

At the time I had long email, texts, telephone conversations..
...with Shaun Harvey CEO of @EFL

It was clear to @EFL that our clubs had not requested such a change.

I asked him to name the clubs requesting change and he said ‘most clubs don’t want a transfer window at all’ he said ‘I have letters in my drawer saying this’ (or words to..
..that effect)

I asked again, ‘WHY are you putting this on the agenda when it will disadvantage my club?’

There was a nonsense reply which was just bluster.

We now know @EFL mimicked the move to add weight to @premierleague actions.

This was why it was forced onto..
...the agenda. It wasn’t about the interests of member clubs.

@EFL was again putting items on the agenda and working to force it through.

@DMAC102 and I arranged a meeting between @SkyBetLeagueOne and @SkyBetLeagueTwo clubs in Walsall to discuss this.

We DID NOT want...
...our transfer window closing early.

We DID NOT want struggling L1 and L2 clubs to have a shorter trading period.

If owners didn’t want to trade they had the option not to trade already.

So @EFL were harming our clubs supporting @premierleague in it’s world domination..
..attempts, supporting what was always only A TRIAL by the Prem.

They did exactly the same as happened in the EFL trophy. They set about getting support for THEIR plan.

The problem for us was getting the debate going. Some clubs had not really bothered considering it at all.
Come the vote the @EFL had worked their usual magic. @SkyBetChamp voted in favour of change to match @premierleague

@SkyBetLeagueOne and @SkyBetLeagueTwo voted against it.

I asked Shaun Harvey in front of ALL L2 clubs to change the window for the championship only. I said..
...we had voted against, and it was only a trial by @premierleague which could be reversed anyhow.

He said it would take too much administration.

So, our transfer window was changed against our wishes.

After changing the window against our wishes, the board, because of..
..warranted criticism put out a vote to clubs, and having already done the damage, changed it back a year later for L1 and L2 clubs.

So we had a year with a short window thanks to the board.

Today something quite hilarious is happening.

The @premierleague is voting to end..
..the transfer window trial and revert back to match Europe.

If they do, I wonder whether the @SkyBetChamp will be given a vote to undo the changes 😂😂😂?

As I said at the time, why would @marksandspencer vote to ban Sunday trading by law, when they could just shut..
...their shop on a Sunday?

Let’s see how the @premierleague vote today, but my view is if they don’t scrap it today, it will come back on the agenda next year.

Because they gambled Europe would follow suit and had their bluff called.

Now prem clubs are at a disadvantage...
Good morning BTW.
