Microsoft employees are surprisingly frank in private: They know there are issues in Skype for Business, and they will never be solved. It’s fundamentally architected generations-ago. Its netcode had to be thrown away and rebuilt in Microsoft Teams. Nobody is coming to save it.

It’s worth noting: Skype for Business is the way that it is for legitimate, if wildly inconvenient reasons. Microsoft Teams leverages online technologies and document presentation code that S4B had to bundle, which left it containing most of the Microsoft Office suite code.
The world is a harsh place. What seems like basic functionality is routinely actually a monstrous relay race across decades of code and the decisions of the past, enshrined before you were born.
This was the most basic logic flow for Slack to determine if you see a pop up notification or not. Human collaboration is a hell world of programming.
