We have been unbelievably moved by people sharing their names and faces in honour of #magdalenberns

Yes, Magdalen was uncompromising. And yes, we do understand why some people find this hard. These people are nasty & they have attacked women. But there is power in number./
As @janeclarejones & others have said, they seek to make us afraid. The more women they can cower, the greater they feel is their power - a power not of number or righteousness, but of the jackboot which has existed through centuries & suppresses with fear./
@janeclarejones Yet all such power can fall and fade if we only have strength & courage. They cannot & will not hurt all of us. The more of us stand, in a Spartacus moment, and say "I am Magdalen" the more their power retreats. Their walls will crumble./
@janeclarejones This isn't to shame or bully. Everyone has reasons & moments. It is simply a plea to consider yours and if you can, to act, however small that first step may seem. Talk to friends or loved ones, object to policy at work, see your MSP. Do something in your, and her, name. /
@janeclarejones We are still dismissed by many in parliament. Ministers & the FM ignore us. Those at the top of the Scottish government are still determined to railroad women's rights and consign all the progress of the last century to the dustbin of history. We cannot let this happen. /
@janeclarejones We need you, all you brave, bold, feisty Scottish women to stand now for yourselves, your daughters and their daughters, and tell the privileged women signing away our rights that this will not pass. We have fought to hard, for too long, at too much cost to allow this./
@janeclarejones We pledge to back our brave parliamentarians who are fighting for our rights to the hilt and we will try to swell those ranks. Someone once commented that they longed to see Magdalen on a committee, taking apart arguments. She can't fulfill that now, but others can./
@janeclarejones So today, think what you can and will do in order to #BeBrave
@janeclarejones As a group, we would never ask or expect women to go beyond what is safe or reasonable. But we do hope that you can & will commit to writing to ministers and visiting MSPs, because that is the public face that really truly matters for them and For Women.
