The purges of Academia began in 1933 in Germany, those who didn't accept and endorse Nazi ideology were forced out. The grip tightened in all occupied countries, here is a translation of what academics found one morning at Jaglellonian.

A dangerous, intolerant ideology which dehumanises a group of people - this time women - is again sweeping across countries, again shouting and intimidating in the halls of power.
Meg is an example of someone cheering on an ideology which denies the humanity and rights of a whole group of people. When it is asked 'how did ordinary people believe this or let this happen' see the example of Meg for the answer.
