Thanks so much for your kind words! To throw in my 2 cents, I think that there is indeed a "political lightness" to credit programs, but only in the context of what Jakob Feinig calls "monetary silencing" where credit isn't seen as political. 1/N

This is an inherently a reactionary position that the left can't thrive in. In an ironic sort of way, going more in for credit programs creates a vicious cycle where there is less and less room for the left. To tie your work to @redheadmenace's, it's no coincidence that 2/N
a generation after the New Deal brought so much of our social priorities "off balance sheet", especially around housing, that "taxpayer's money" became the politics to defend against property taxes for education and desegregation and its logic swallowed the globe's politics. 3/N
It is in this context, in addition to the climate crisis, that we recommend a radical break with these past traditions as the only way to get "out from under" the political burden that has accumulated from decades of monetary silencing and submerged state credit programs 4/N
From our point of view, the only way to defeat climate change and neoliberalism is to propose big, bold policies and take ostentatious political credit for them. It takes a massive social movement, but we think its possible. We also think its our only option 5/5
