I received the loveliest of personalized rejection letters fm the editors of American Fiction on my short story, Rapunzel. Acceptance wd be better, but this is 2nd best.

It had been so long since I submitted I'd forgotten abt it.

Now I review it & I see continuity mistakes.▶️
So, next step is to fix those mistakes & find another publication to try out. And review American Fiction some more to see what else I might have to submit that would be "better suited" to their needs. I do have several languishing in both electronic & paper filing cabinets!▶️
I only just started submitting creative work again this past year, a chore I last worked at in the 1970s. I once got a similar personalized rejection from Mademoiselle Magazine, back when they were known for publishing quality fiction

I enjoy writing, but hate figuring out ▶️
...where to send my work. It always seems like such a crap shoot.

But, gratified by their compliments, my energy is renewed.

Attached is the required bio I sent w/the story.
BTW if you're someone who's done a lot of writing & you want to try to get published, the app Submittable is a terrific resource. You can search their database of publishers who use Submittable to track submissions.

It's also great for job applications.
